We have been discussing licenses for the production of Patriots with the U.S. Administration for a long time already. I thank all the countries helping through the PURL program, which enables us to purchase interceptors for Patriots. However, to reliably protect lives, we need our own production. European production here in Ukraine, or jointly with our partners, would also support the U.S. in operations whenever needed. We hope for a positive response from President Trump to protect lives. We explored new ideas that could help reinforce air defense and protect our people. I am grateful to the Prime Minister of the Netherlands for such a symbolic visit – coming to Ukraine almost immediately after beginning his work at the head of the new Government. I informed Rob Jetten Rob Jetten about the situation on the battlefield and about the Russian attacks that do not stop for a single day. We need stable, steady support every day while the war continues. The Netherlands demonstrates exactly the kind of support that works most effectively – a predictable annual volume of €3 billion each year. The Netherlands is also investing in the PURL initiative, which is critical for us and allows us to purchase air defense missiles. It is important that we are producing weapons together with the Netherlands – and we will certainly continue and expand this joint work. This is also provided for in the joint statement we adopted today. We discussed this in detail during the meeting – investments, licenses, and possible production volumes. The Netherlands has supported us since the first days of this war, and in many aspects – defense support, assistance to our energy sector, support for sanctions against Russia, as well as political support for Ukraine. Thank you for this.

We need stable, steady support every day while the war continues. The Netherlands demonstrates exactly the kind of support that works most effectively – a predictable annual volume of €3 billion each year. The Netherlands is also investing in the PURL initiative, which is critical for us and allows us to purchase air defense missiles. It is important that we are producing weapons together with the Netherlands – and we will certainly continue and expand this joint work. This is also provided for in the joint statement we adopted today. We discussed this in detail during the meeting – investments, licenses, and possible production volumes. The Netherlands has supported us since the first days of this war, and in many aspects – defense support, assistance to our energy sector, support for sanctions against Russia, as well as political support for Ukraine. My last words have been several times to President Trump, "Don't forget about our defense, don't forget about Patriots." This is very important for us during this winter. Friends, in order to survive this winter, we need not just generators (which are very important) but also air defense - this is crucial to stop Russia from destroying more and more of Ukrainian infrastructure. The more air defense systems and missiles for them Ukraine has, the safer Ukrainian civilians will be. The more lives will be saved.

We are working with the United States to ensure that Ukraine still can receive the necessary number of Patriot systems. This is not an easy task, but it is one of the security guarantees for Ukraine – and it will work in the long term. In Washington, I spoke with defense companies that produce Patriots and other weapons we need. The willingness to work with Ukraine is fully sufficient – Ukraine is trusted. It is important that there be enough support for this at the political level in Washington.

It is important to continue working together on the resilience of Ukrainian communities – and therefore on the experience of resilience that will be useful to communities in your countries. It is enormously helpful for Ukraine to feel that we are not alone in our defense. People in your countries, as well as here in Ukraine, must continue to feel that evil will not prevail. I met with Frans Timmermans, leader of the Green-Labour alliance in the Netherlands. We discussed Ukraine’s defense support, diplomacy, security guarantees, and our future in the European Union. We value the Netherlands’ readiness to continue supporting Ukraine. I also want to highlight their participation in the PURL initiative. We see the challenges that exist now: the Iranian regime has effectively blocked the Strait of Hormuz – one of the main routes for supplying oil and gas to the global market. This is a major source of instability. No one in the world can yet say how long all of this will last, but it is important that the protection of life starts working effectively as soon as possible. Stability is important for us as well. Those now seeking Ukraine’s help must continue to assist our own defense – first and foremost, our air defense. Last year we already proposed a drone agreement to the United States. This is the right way forward: to partner with us in the production and use of drones, and everyone now sees that there is no alternative to this approach. Ukraine has the greatest experience in the world in countering attack drones, and without our experience it will be very difficult for the Gulf region, the entire Middle East, and partners in Europe and America to build strong protection.
