I think EA NHL games should shift to a 2 year release schedule. Short term $ pain for long term gain. Actually offer tangible improvements with each new game instead of marginal ones.

At the very least can we do better than this on the facescans

I’ve been saying this since 22 or 23 but in reality it probably won’t ever change. When they tried to do that with NBA Live it ended up just being the end of the franchise completely

That’s not the only issue. It’s the gameplay engine. They worked on college football for years and it was still a glitchy mess at launch. Stop using a first-person shooter engine and stop being greedy. Build a new engine from scratch. Frostbite needs to be retired.

The only problem with your solution is they’d be leaving us with this steaming pile of shit for 2 years

EA should shift to a never make a hockey game again schedule

My worry is that even with this schedule they're just generally not that ambitious (and that could be a resource thing maybe but still...)

I’d even go 3 years with roster updates throughout. Do not think one person would complain

$29.99 for a yearly roster update/patch until they have something new to offer. I’d gladly pay it

EA NHL exists to help subsidize FIFA and Madden....once people realize this, it all makes more sense.

Can’t believe there are still people buying EA games in 2026 lol

EA literally just did this with the F1 game. F1 25 got an DLC that was essentially F1 26 and it was released at a lower price because there wasn't going to be that much added content in it besides driver movements and liveries. EA should do that for all their sports titles

Welcome to my world for the past 30 years. Slightly altered year after year 80$ every year. I finally learned my lesson around 2012.. wait a few months and pick it up for 5$

They won’t. They can’t with budgets and backing. And it wouldn’t matter anyway. Go beyond what you’re suggesting and deduce why that won’t change a thing besides taking even longer to see major changes. Pretend it happens and think about all of the negatives, not the positives.

I haven’t bought an EA NHL Hockey game since 2016. I still play NHL Legends for PS3. Bought two NHL 15s for XBox 360 cause one disc stopped reading. I have a gaming PC that I would gladly buy EA NHL to play on, but EA still refuses to port it to PC after 17 going on 18 years.

They would never do that because they want to make their yearly profit

F1 25 should become the standard for the NHL franchise. They clearly don’t have the dev team size or tools to make improvements to the game (no matter how many whales are being harpooned). F1 released a 2026 season update for $30 w/ new rosters, cars, tracks, etc.

Maybe just maybe devs should so their fucking jobs. A full YEAR to do what they do is a joke

So you would have been fine waiting an extra year for the small Amount of changes we saw this year?

Then just buy the game every 2 years then? No one is making you buy the new game 😂

They should redund everyone this yr. Make the game free and do constant updates in the future and make money of the microtransactions they already do anyway. Saves time and moneybfeom remaking bs

Buddy we are lucky we get an NHL game every year. If this game flops they will just scrap the franchise and nobody else will start developing all of a sudden We love a niche sport 🤣 lacrosse and Cricket are bigger sports worldwide and their games are ass What do we expect really

It’s a pretty big change from last year imo EASHL isn’t remotely comparable. The game is fine. Not much more you can reinvent from year to year than they did from 26 to 27

Yeah just update the rosters and focus on the next game lol

The way you fix the game is too start at a 65 ovr and you intergrade BE A Pro and EASHL together to upgrade your guy. And stop making it cartoonish and careless

Bro people were premad about the game. They’ve taken away some of the bs glitch goals that just made the game cheesy. If you care about watching replays and crowds find god.

That would be great. I'd pay for a year of roster updates

Try 5 year. Then we have a deal. With much better updates to mechanics, sliders, etc to make it actually play in a realistic way and score for each time setting, Roster updates more often or even live, every trade covered, A LIVE 1player season or franchise mode
