i think spacex browser game just fixed my fried focus, lol spent 20 min last night manually docking a crew dragon to the iss and my head went dead quiet for the first time in weeks. it's the real spacex sim, free, runs in the browser, no install. ease...

"my head went dead quiet for the first time in weeks." This is why I fly planes: “I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things. ” ― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

This is Ender’s Game. You’re actually docking a real spacecraft and just don’t know it

Its a cool sim but sadly not accurate to orbital mechanics, it simulates as if the capsule and station are hovering stationary instead of in orbit. IRL, maneuvering forward/backward relative to the station would also cause the opposite side of the orbit to shift slightly down/up

fuck I just wasted 20 minutes I didn't even realize there was a speed maximum. Was running about .6 m/s. everything else was full 0's/

Bro, if space helps you, try my app, Star Focus. It’s a real 3D map of thousands of stars and you can travel between at 10m x speed of light, with or without music & nature sounds. Choose routes from 5 to 120 min and enjoy a forward or side view and see stars are passing around.

This would be a great recruiting tool for @SpaceX. Not only could they select people with aptitude, they could select for people with passion for the brand. You’d get better talent than going through rounds and rounds of interviews listening to rehearsed answers.

It's fun! I successfully docked my 1st attempt, and then showed my kids during the 2nd attempt and got success again. They were mildly amused and said "cool" but were only halfway paying attention...

first try twice, with an audience, you're basically flight qualified 😄

those last few meters are the whole thing 😄 all closing rate, ease it to a crawl or you bounce right off. real docking takes that final stretch at centimeters per second for the same reason. did you stick the capture?

Profilbild von Captain Toddler
Captain Toddlervor 4 Monaten

Yes, I did. It took a while, because I jumped at it without reading the instructions (I’m a man!), so I’ve learned a new trade by trial and error. I thought closing in would be more tricky, needing some orbital mechanics (lowering the altitude). It was fun! I’m ready to go! 😀

Try meditation. Start with short sessions. Use an app if you must. Sit however you want. Close your eyes. Do nothing. When your mind wanders and you forget your intention, start again. It builds a subtle, profound mental power. This is good for programmers if you need a reason.

Profilbild von Sudo su

had the same thought, but it'd be training on noise, inputs from a simplified browser physics model are nothing like real 6dof dynamics or the actual sensor stack. real docking autonomy learns from flight data + high fid sim, not people nudging a browser game. great outreach toy though.

🚨WHAT ARE THE DRAGONS AT SPACEX? At SpaceX, "Dragons" aren't just mythical—they're cutting-edge spacecraft that are redefining space travel and pushing SpaceX to DRAGONLORD valuation levels. Cargo Dragon: - First Launched: 2010. - Purpose: Designed to deliver supplies, experiments, and equipment to the International Space Station (ISS). - Features: Can carry up to 6,000 kg of cargo. It's equipped with Draco thrusters for precise orbital maneuvers and splashdown landings in the ocean. - Notable Missions: Over 30 successful missions, including the first commercial spacecraft to dock with the ISS. Crew Dragon: - First Launched: 2020. - Purpose: Transports astronauts to and from the ISS. It’s also used for missions like Polaris Dawn, set to achieve the world's first commercial spacewalk. - Features: Can carry up to 7 astronauts. It’s equipped with SuperDraco engines for emergency escape during launch and a touchscreen control interface inspired by sci-fi tech. - Safety: The only crewed spacecraft currently in operation that can be reused for multiple missions, ensuring both efficiency and safety. Dragon 2: - Advancements: Both Cargo and Crew Dragon are part of the Dragon 2 line, with enhanced safety features, increased payload capacity, and improved reusability. - Autonomous Docking: Capable of autonomously docking with the ISS, reducing the need for manual control. These Dragons are the backbone of SpaceX’s missions, embodying innovation and the push towards making life multiplanetary. They're not just spacecraft—they're a symbol of the future.
