A moratorium is dumb. Everything you see on X is powered by a datacenter. They are needed. They bring good jobs, and tax revenue. A datacenter is just a big electrical box. Built right, they are very low impact. Best solution: site them on unused industrial properties.

Laughing when Benson says lower utility bills. The governor appoints the Michigan Pubic Service Commission (MPSC) who sets the rates for utilities. If you think the utility rates are high blame Whitmer she has been in office the last 8 years.

JB Pritzker has given over $1 billion in tax breaks to data centers, at one point making us the #2 state for data centers in the country (we're #4 now). All with no guardrails to protect local residents or regulate energy or water usage. So it's no surprise to see the room packed with opponents when a 3rd data center campus was being proposed in Hoffman Estates. Pritzker and Springfield failed to pause tax incentives for data centers and failed to put in place common sense regulations that ensure data centers pay all their energy costs, limit water usage, and contribute to a property tax relief fund for Illinoisans. Vote Independent in November and we will get it done.

This is outrageous. A small town in Michigan did everything right to stop OpenAI & Oracle from building a $16 billion data center in their town. The people of Saline Township flooded their council meeting, put up signs all over town, and convinced their officials to reject it. The officials voted against the data center 4-1, and that should have been the end. But two days later the developers sued, and the town couldn’t afford to fight back in court. We are not a free nation when billion-dollar corporations can take over the land of our communities and towns. We are a captive nation ruled by corporations and billionaires.
