On January 25th, The Sameer Project did a medical day in the Tuyoor Muhajera (migrant birds) Camp in Khan Younis. An extremely neglected camp with no medical point nearby, the néed was extremely high. Help: The Sameer Project medical team examined 250 patients and provided treatment for 126 cases of scabies, 56 cases of asthma and upper respiratory tract infection and 22 cases of hypertension. Three babies died so far in Gaza due to hypothermia in the last two nights. The Sameer Project team took immediate action to support families with newborns and thanks to your support, we distributed warm onesies and shoes to babies! Keep donating: Today (December 12th), the Sameer Project distributed 39 onesies made from wool and 39 wool shoes to newborn babies. Each family got a pamphlet and explanation on how best to protect the baby from hypothermia. This was done in the Nadi Bahri Camp that is on the beach in Gaza City and is one of the most affected camps with the storm. Total cost for onesies and shoes was $640 with 9% commission. The onesies we bought were tailormade by a small business that we love supporting called Nour Design. The pediatric department at Nasser Hospital requested our help!! Support: There is a huge influx of patients at the hospital in Khan Younis due to displacements from the North and the number of malnourished and sick babies being born daily. In a 24 hour period, the pediatric ward had 1,000 patients visit with is 10x the usual number. Mothers, babies, children are sprawled out on the hospital floor because of the overcrowding. The Sameer Project responded by delivering 30 mattresses so that the huge number of cases have somewhere to rest and recover. Each mattress cost $75, with the total coming to $2,239 after 11% commission. We are always glad to be able to support the hospitals that are working so hard to take care of patients. We all saw what happened this summer when formula was blocked from coming into Gaza. Now very SMALL amounts are coming in meaning that they’re not accessible to purchase for most people, support: A can of formula costs around $36.15 with 11% commission so for 100 the cost is $3,615. On September 5th, the Translating Falasteen (Translating Falasteen (Palestine)) x Sameer Project distributed 100 cans of milk for ages 6 months to 1 year at Al Daraj School in Gaza City. Our distributions in Northern Gaza have increased over the last two weeks to support Palestinians facing daily intense bombings and killings. Palestinians in Northern Gaza don’t want to leave, this is our land, this is our country, stop the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. All mutual aid groups are suffering from drops in donations and are scrambling to fill the void left by others. The Sameer Project has a medical point in Jabalia that has many critical cases coming in everyday, like the ones you see in this video. We have around 250-300 patients coming in everyday! Iman at just 6 years old is suffering from extreme malnutrition and cerebral palsy. During the genocide, her parents already lost two sons to the same condition and severe acute malnutrition. No parent should have to bury their children while still fighting every day to keep another alive. Help now: On May 6, The Sameer Project supported Iman’s family in Khan Younis with a new tent that we installed, a mattress, blanket, milk, and diapers - essentials that become lifesaving in conditions where families have been stripped of nearly everything and have a child with disabilities to care for. The total cost for this shelter and support was $267 including the 11% commission fees. Survival for children with disabilities and chronic conditions becomes even more dangerous under siege, displacement, and starvation. On February 7th, Translating Falasteen (@translatingpa ) x The Sameer Project team distributed 675 of those sandwiches to Falasteen Shelter Center, Rimal. Help: The total cost with 11% commission was $1,261. So each sandwich costs around $1.85. Chicken and goods are coming in through the border but less than a quarter of the needed amount. The children in Gaza Camp in Deir Al Balah were barefoot, some wearing summer clothes, and all were cold. This camp gets minimal support and none of the families had anything to keep them warm for winter. Our The Sameer Project team got to work after taking the sizes of all the children at the camp, organizating a distribution of warm winter jackets, ensuring there was one for each child in need. We provided 103 jackets, each one heavy, water proof and lined, to keep them warm during the winter storms. Each one was approximately $23 and cost a total 2,290 after 9% commission. We are right in the middle of winter and need your help to distribute more warm clothing and protective jackets. Donate to our “Give Warmth to Gaza” initiative in our Return Home Campaign. Finally some fruit came into Gaza through the commercial trucks! Quantities remain low and prices high as only 14% of trucks needed are allowed in. While families from different corners around the world gather for feasts and exchanging gifts, families in Gaza are trying to survive, help here: Even basic shelter is a dream in Gaza today as borders let ZERO building materials or caravans in. The Sameer Project is working with extremely limited resources trying to support Palestinians in Gaza. This video is of a family in the Refaat Alareer Camp whose tent collapsed on them during a rainstorm. This family of four kids lost their mom who was murdered by the military occupation, and shortly after that lost their grandfather. The grandmother is taking care of the injured father and four children on her own. We provide coupons, medical support, mental health care, schooling & more in our camps! Your support will help this family and 105 more families with injuries.
