On January 25th, The Sameer Project did a medical day in the Tuyoor Muhajera (migrant birds) Camp in Khan Younis. An extremely neglected camp with no medical point nearby, the néed was extremely high. The Sameer Project team took immediate action to support families with newborns and thanks to your support, we distributed warm onesies and shoes to babies! Keep donating: Today (December 12th), the Sameer Project distributed 39 onesies made from wool and 39 wool shoes to newborn babies. The pediatric department at Nasser Hospital requested our help!! Support: There is a huge influx of patients at the hospital in Khan Younis due to displacements from the North and the number of malnourished and sick babies being born daily. In a 24 hour period, the pediatric ward had 1,000 patients visit with is 10x the usual number. Mothers, babies, children are sprawled out on the hospital floor because of the overcrowding. The Sameer Project responded by delivering 30 mattresses so that the huge number of cases have somewhere to rest and recover. Each mattress cost $75, with the total coming to $2,239 after 11% commission. We are always glad to be able to support the hospitals that are working so hard to take care of patients. This camp gets minimal support and none of the families had anything to keep them warm for winter. Our The Sameer Project team got to work after taking the sizes of all the children at the camp, organizating a distribution of warm winter jackets, ensuring there was one for each child in need. We provided 103 jackets, each one heavy, water proof and lined, to keep them warm during the winter storms. Each one was approximately $23 and cost a total 2,290 after 9% commission. Finally some fruit came into Gaza through the commercial trucks! Quantities remain low and prices high as only 14% of trucks needed are allowed in. Support: Yesterday, October 22nd, the Sameer Project made fruit packages for the students of the Bashir School in Deir El Balah. 200 packages with a banana, an apple and an orange in each one. Total cost was around $740 so $3.70 per package (11% commission). A two year old in Gaza today wouldn’t recognize some fruit because that’s how long they’ve been deprived with borders closed most of the genocide. With the “ceasefire” a few trucks started coming in with the military occupation ensuring that they don’t surpass the 15% of the daily néed of Palestinians in Gaza. Finally some fruit came into Gaza through the commercial trucks! Quantities remain low and prices high as only 14% of trucks needed are allowed in. Support: Yesterday, October 22nd, the Sameer Project made fruit packages for the students of the Bashir School in Deir El Balah. 200 packages with a banana, an apple and an orange in each one. Total cost was around $740 so $3.70 per package (11% commission). A two year old in Gaza today wouldn’t recognize some fruit because that’s how long they’ve been deprived with borders closed most of the genocide. With the “ceasefire” a few trucks started coming in with the military occupation ensuring that they don’t surpass the 15% of the daily néed of Palestinians in Gaza.
