On January 25th, The Sameer Project did a medical day in the Tuyoor Muhajera (migrant birds) Camp in Khan Younis. An extremely neglected camp with no medical point nearby, the néed was extremely high. Help: The Sameer Project medical team examined 250 patients and provided treatment for 126 cases of scabies, 56 cases of asthma and upper respiratory tract infection and 22 cases of hypertension. Three babies died so far in Gaza due to hypothermia in the last two nights. The Sameer Project team took immediate action to support families with newborns and thanks to your support, we distributed warm onesies and shoes to babies! Keep donating: Today (December 12th), the Sameer Project distributed 39 onesies made from wool and 39 wool shoes to newborn babies. Each family got a pamphlet and explanation on how best to protect the baby from hypothermia. This was done in the Nadi Bahri Camp that is on the beach in Gaza City and is one of the most affected camps with the storm. Total cost for onesies and shoes was $640 with 9% commission. The onesies we bought were tailormade by a small business that we love supporting called Nour Design. The pediatric department at Nasser Hospital requested our help!! Support: There is a huge influx of patients at the hospital in Khan Younis due to displacements from the North and the number of malnourished and sick babies being born daily. In a 24 hour period, the pediatric ward had 1,000 patients visit with is 10x the usual number. Mothers, babies, children are sprawled out on the hospital floor because of the overcrowding. The Sameer Project responded by delivering 30 mattresses so that the huge number of cases have somewhere to rest and recover. Each mattress cost $75, with the total coming to $2,239 after 11% commission. We are always glad to be able to support the hospitals that are working so hard to take care of patients. We all saw what happened this summer when formula was blocked from coming into Gaza. Now very SMALL amounts are coming in meaning that they’re not accessible to purchase for most people, support: A can of formula costs around $36.15 with 11% commission so for 100 the cost is $3,615. On September 5th, the Translating Falasteen (Translating Falasteen (Palestine)) x Sameer Project distributed 100 cans of milk for ages 6 months to 1 year at Al Daraj School in Gaza City. Our distributions in Northern Gaza have increased over the last two weeks to support Palestinians facing daily intense bombings and killings. Palestinians in Northern Gaza don’t want to leave, this is our land, this is our country, stop the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. Iman at just 6 years old is suffering from extreme malnutrition and cerebral palsy. During the genocide, her parents already lost two sons to the same condition and severe acute malnutrition. No parent should have to bury their children while still fighting every day to keep another alive. Help now: On May 6, The Sameer Project supported Iman’s family in Khan Younis with a new tent that we installed, a mattress, blanket, milk, and diapers - essentials that become lifesaving in conditions where families have been stripped of nearly everything and have a child with disabilities to care for. The children in Gaza Camp in Deir Al Balah were barefoot, some wearing summer clothes, and all were cold. This camp gets minimal support and none of the families had anything to keep them warm for winter. Our The Sameer Project team got to work after taking the sizes of all the children at the camp, organizating a distribution of warm winter jackets, ensuring there was one for each child in need. We provided 103 jackets, each one heavy, water proof and lined, to keep them warm during the winter storms. Each one was approximately $23 and cost a total 2,290 after 9% commission. The occupation has created an entire population of Palestinians in Gaza who need around the clock care as they are paralyzed, quadriplegic, in comas, or vegetative states due to brain damage either from blunt-force trauma or inhaling toxic chemicals. They need special medical support that is expensive and also not easy to find. This is the case for Ibrahim who was a normal teenage boy when a bombing occurred infront of him and a fragment smashed into his head. Now Ibrahim is bedridden, unresponsive, cannot speak. Finally some fruit came into Gaza through the commercial trucks! Quantities remain low and prices high as only 14% of trucks needed are allowed in. Support: Yesterday, October 22nd, the Sameer Project made fruit packages for the students of the Bashir School in Deir El Balah. 200 packages with a banana, an apple and an orange in each one. Total cost was around $740 so $3.70 per package (11% commission). Finally some fruit came into Gaza through the commercial trucks! Quantities remain low and prices high as only 14% of trucks needed are allowed in. Support: Yesterday, October 22nd, the Sameer Project made fruit packages for the students of the Bashir School in Deir El Balah. 200 packages with a banana, an apple and an orange in each one. Total cost was around $740 so $3.70 per package (11% commission). While families from different corners around the world gather for feasts and exchanging gifts, families in Gaza are trying to survive, help here: Even basic shelter is a dream in Gaza today as borders let ZERO building materials or caravans in. The Sameer Project is working with extremely limited resources trying to support Palestinians in Gaza. This video is of a family in the Refaat Alareer Camp whose tent collapsed on them during a rainstorm. This family of four kids lost their mom who was murdered by the military occupation, and shortly after that lost their grandfather. The grandmother is taking care of the injured father and four children on her own. We provide coupons, medical support, mental health care, schooling & more in our camps!
