Maharashtra The Startup Capital of India Pioneering Innovation and Empowering the Future! Attended and addressed at the inauguration of the National Startup Day 2025 program in Mumbai today, showcasing Maharashtra's dominance in the startup sector and announcing transformative initiatives for its future. Virtually inaugurated two groundbreaking facilities: the Digital Media Center of Excellence established by Hewlett-Packard India at ITI Govandi and the Model Career Center at ITI Palghar, at the event. Under the visionary leadership of Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji, the Startup India initiative has transformed India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Grateful to Hon PM Modi Ji for launching the Startup India Policy in 2016, the number of startups in India has grown exponentially from 471 to an impressive 1,57,000. Of these, over 26,000 startups hail from Maharashtra, solidifying the state’s position as the ‘Startup Capital of India’. Remarkably, Maharashtra also leads the nation with the highest number of women-led startups, thanks to its women-centric policies. In just one year, startup investments in Maharashtra have seen an unprecedented 154% growth. A Proud Moment for SBI At a prestigious ceremony held at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi, on 1st September 2025, State Bank of India and Indian Railways signed an MoU for the SBI's curated Railway Salary Package for the employees of Indian Railways. The event was graced by: Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw Chairman & CEO, Railway Board, Shri Satish Kumar Chairman, SBI, Shri C.S. Setty And other senior dignitaries from Indian Railways and SBI. Through this collaboration, SBI will extend curated salary package to 12.6 lakh Railway employees, acknowledging their invaluable contribution as the backbone of India’s lifeline. On the occasion, SBI Chairman Shri C.S. Setty, also presented a cheque of ₹11.40 crore towards accidental claims to Chairman & CEO, Railway Board, Shri Satish Kumar for the families of deceased Railway employees, reaffirming SBI’s commitment to standing with them in times of need. As part of the Railway Salary Package, Indian Railways employees will be covered under Personal Accidental Insurance and Air Accidental Insurance, ensuring enhanced financial security for them and their families. This will be in addition to a host of other features including life style privileges for them and their family members. Over 10,000 voices. One powerful message. Run for a Greener India. Today, we successfully hosted the 6th season of the SBI Green Marathon at Mumbai, in collaboration with Mirchi, witnessing an overwhelming participation of over 10,000 enthusiastic runners across 5 km, 10 km and 21 km race categories. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of our Managing Director, Shri Rama Mohan Rao Amara, Deputy Managing Director (HR) & CDO, Shri G. S. Rana and other senior dignitaries. At SBI, sustainability is integral to our purpose — from increasing Green Advances to accelerating India’s green transition. We extend our heartfelt thanks to every participant, organiser and volunteer who made this event a grand success. Let’s keep running towards a cleaner, greener future.
