This Chinese driver owns both a Tesla vehicle with FSD and Huawei AITO M9 with ADS. He prefers FSD over ADS for his daily driving. FSD can be activated anywhere he wants. ADS can only be activated in pre-mapped areas (not high-definition maps) and it’s still rule-based solution on BEV+transformer architecture. FSD is fundamentally better.

This Chinese tester puts 3 intelligent driving systems to the test in a construction zone: Huawei ADS, LI AD Max and Tesla FSD, all of which are installed with the currently available software versions in China. FSD is the only one that successfully navigates the zone without any issue. Both ADS and AD Max give up either because it can’t perceive the environment properly or lack of navigation map data. Compared with Tesla FSD V14.2.2.5 in the same scenario, the difference in reaction speed is obvious. Under the same conditions, the HUAWEI ADS vehicle hit the pedestrian twice, while FSD accurately avoided every collision. This is the so-called Chinese autonomous driving system that many Western influencers claim is far better than FSD. All I can say is that their marketing is extremely powerful. Both local consumers and Western media figures have been misled by its performance in specially tuned scenarios. And this is also why many local automakers are doing everything they can to block FSD from entering China. Once the latest version of FSD arrives, the dream they have carefully created for local consumers will collapse.
