FSD slams on the brakes for a cat in the road that doesn’t even exist. This is FSD 12.6.4 on HW3, which is a lot more sensitive to shadows & objects in the road with the 2026.8.6 update. There are many reports of brake stabbing. It brings me back to the days when I was testing with v10.3 of FSD back in 2021. It’s interesting that it’s the same FSD version as before, and not something like 12.6.4.1, but I guess Tesla can change the weights without changing the version. And they’ve likely been doing this for a while with 12.6.4. 😒

In 2 scenarios where a tree is in the way, FSD is the only system that successfully drove around to stay the course. Every other system failed to proceed. Forget UPL, it's the Devin's simple right hand turn that FSD needs to master first. I am blown away that software as good as FSD can make mistakes as simple but devastating as this. This is the second time in less than two weeks that FSD has tried to pull infront of a vehicle on a VERY SIMPLE right hand turn. The car drove pretty much flawlessly all day today (3~ hours of driving) but it ends the day with a move like this and it just takes all the confidence I have with FSD away in a simple move. I understand that the version of FSD we have today is not what will be used in Austin in June, but the fact that FSD is making decisions like this and 'full autonomy' is less than 3 months away - it's a bit concerning to me. He is so impressed by the flawless zero-disengagement or zero-intervention drives. He invited his friend, an Xpeng X9 owner, to test it as well. The friend uses XPeng’s latest NGP autonomous driving system all the time. Obviously he is a very savvy ADAS observer in China. After the test drive, his verdict is: FSD is “invincible”. Two police officers approached me in Yosemite today and told me I “cannot use FSD” because, according to them, there have been “many accidents” involving it. I highly doubt either of them has spent hundreds of hours using the latest version, bc this is what FSD v14.3.6 was doing for me… smoothly guiding my Cybertruck through Yosemite’s winding roads, slowing before sharp curves, staying centered in its lane and handling the entire drive while I enjoyed the scenery and ready to take over. I told them that I trust this technology to drive me more than I trust myself to manually drive. Of course no technology is accident-free… but the real question is how often accidents happen compared to normal human driving. And according to Tesla’s latest reported safety data, vehicles using FSD (Supervised) travel roughly 7x farther between major collisions than the U.S. average. FSD is still supervised, and the driver remains responsible at all times… but saying the technology is unsafe simply bc accidents have happened ignores the rate, the data and how quickly the system continues to improve. So I gave them both the middle finger and continued my trip on Tesla FSD.

We have yet to see any official cases of V14 being applied outside of the United States and Canada. I've just completed my first FSD run for about an hour. (I've experienced about 10,000km of FSD in the U.S.) Except for the parking lot, there was never a case where I intervened during the FSD drive. The first impression of the FSD that works in Korea is that it is very amazing and a great achievement of the Tesla AI team. Although there was one case where I went off the road without following the navigation, the FSD thought to itself and drove on the right path. The overall experience in Korea was very good, such as turning left, turning right, U turn, joining lanes, and changing lanes. It's kind of like... an American driver driving in Korea on an international driver's license. If more data is generated in the future and the number of users increases, higher achievement of FSD in Korea is very much expected. I can't wait for more people to experience FSD in Korea! When I press the accelerator, I can temporarily exceed that speed. But the moment I release the pedal, FSD smoothly returns to 120 km/h. In other words, Tesla does not continue speeding on its own. And let’s not forget the most important fact: The driver remains responsible for the vehicle at all times.
