The Tesla Model 3/Y produced in the 2017-2024 timeframe all have just an air conditioning vent in the back. But it would be great to turn it into a smart screen that can watch movies, play games and other controls.

Huawei is v11 maximum, others might be v10/11. We FSD veteran know that V11 was pretty capable, but the comfortness and confidence compared to v13 night and day. Completely different technology stack are required to achieve this.

I tried Huwei ADS myself, didn’t post, it’s similar to other autonomous driving systems but not in the same class as Tesla. It is a real thing though, I can’t predict how fast they will progress

Just a few weeks ago, people were saying that Tesla FSD is way behind Huawei ADS in China.

ADS can only be activated in pre-mapped areas (not high-definition maps) and it’s still rule-based solution on BEV+transformer architecture. FSD is fundamentally better.

This is the latest version of HUAWEI ADS 4, which is often called China’s strongest autonomous driving system. Compared with Tesla FSD V14.2.2.5 in the same scenario, the difference in reaction speed is obvious. Under the same conditions, the HUAWEI ADS vehicle hit the pedestrian twice, while FSD accurately avoided every collision. This is the so-called Chinese autonomous driving system that many Western influencers claim is far better than FSD. All I can say is that their marketing is extremely powerful. Both local consumers and Western media figures have been misled by its performance in specially tuned scenarios. And this is also why many local automakers are doing everything they can to block FSD from entering China. Once the latest version of FSD arrives, the dream they have carefully created for local consumers will collapse.

This Chinese tester puts 3 intelligent driving systems to the test in a construction zone: Huawei ADS, LI AD Max and Tesla FSD, all of which are installed with the currently available software versions in China. FSD is the only one that successfully navigates the zone without any issue. Both ADS and AD Max give up either because it can’t perceive the environment properly or lack of navigation map data. Tesla FSD 13.2 vs Waymo! I had FSD and Waymo do the same drive — same start point, same end point. Both arrived with 0 interventions but the Tesla had fewer awkward moments and arrived in 15m40s while the Waymo took 43 minutes — nearly 3x longer.

Tesla a bit too keen to prove it can do offroad. Video from a family member's Tesla in FSD v12.6.4 ping-ponging, hopping a driveway, and ending up in a ditch. No one injured except the car, but damn. FSD is truly amazing until it isn't.

PC AUTO, a known Chinese auto publication, recently reviewed intelligent driving systems from eight major brands: Huawei, BYD, XPeng, Zeekr, LI, Xiaomi, NIO and Tesla. In 2 scenarios where a tree is in the way, FSD is the only system that successfully drove around to stay the course. Every other system failed to proceed. For context, FSD is the only system that doesn’t use lidars. Looks like vision-based approach is superior and can solve edge cases which lidars may not.
