Culture is genetic because behavior is genetic. This beaver never saw a dam in its life. No beavers or anything else ever taught it to build a dam. It wants to build a dam because it is a beaver. Many beavers together build a big dam. That is beaver culture. Humans are not different. Nothing is different. This is what life is. This is how life works. Your body is your mind. A caterpillar wants to build a chrysalis. A bee wants to build a hive. A lion wants to build a pride. You are not special. You are not above your nature. you are INSIDE of it. The thoughts that we think are genetic thoughts. The crimes we commit are genetic crimes. The art we create is genetic art. Just like this beaver, you can give the animal different sticks and it will build a different dam, but it will always build a dam. And you can give humans different "education," but the human will always use it to do what its genes tell it to do. This is the first big answer that you need. This is the biggest piece of the puzzle. This is how to understand people 90% of the way. You just... notice what they do, and get out of the way, and watch them do it. And if they need sticks, you give them sticks. And if you don't like what they do, you have to get away from them. You cannot train dam-building into them or out of them any more than you can with a beaver. A beaver wants to build a dam because it is a beaver. New Andrej Karpathy interview Says AI agent failures stem from user skill, not model capability. Poor instructions cause errors. He suggests delegating 20-minute macro actions like coding and research to parallel agents and reviewing their work. --- "I think everything, like so many things, even if they don't work, I think to a large extent you feel like it's a skill issue. It's not that the capability is not there; it's that you just haven't found a way to string together what's available. Like, I didn't give good enough instructions to the agents in the file, or whatever it may be. I don't have a nice enough memory tool that I put in there, or something like that. So, it all kind of feels like a skill issue when it doesn't work to some extent. You want to see how you can parallelize them, and you want to be a 'Pierce tender,' basically. Pierce famously has a funny photo where he's in front of lots of these Codex agents behind the monitor. They all take about 20 minutes if you run them correctly and use high effort. You have multiple—you know, 10 or 20—pull requests checked out. It's just like you can do much larger macro actions. It's not just, 'Here's a line of code, here's a new function.' It's like, 'Here's a new functionality, delegate it to agent one. Here's a new functionality that's not going to interfere with the other one, give it to agent two.' Then, you try to review their work as best as you can, depending on how much you care about that code. You look for these macro actions that you can manipulate your software repository by. Jordan Peterson: "If you can't fix your room, you can't fix your life" "Why should you even bother improving yourself? The answer is something like: so you don't suffer anymore stupidly than you have to. And maybe so others don't have to either. It's not some casual self-help doctrine. If you don't organize yourself properly, you'll pay for it. In a big way. And so will the people around you." Peterson continues: "You can say, 'Well, I don't care about that.' But that's actually not true, you do care about it. Because if you're in pain, you will care about it. It's very rare that you can find someone in excruciating pain who would say, 'Well, it would be no better if I was out of this.' Pain brings the idea that it would be better if it didn't exist along with it. It's incontrovertible." On how to start: "Look around for something that bothers you and see if you can fix it. You can do this in a room. Sit in your bedroom and think: 'If I wanted to spend ten minutes making this room better, what would I have to do?' You have to ask yourself that, it's a genuine question. And things will pop out. There's a stack of papers bugging you. Some rubbish behind your computer monitor you haven't attended to for six months. Cables tangled up." He explains why this matters: "If you were coming to see me for psychotherapy, the easiest thing would be to get you to organize your room. You think, is that psychotherapy? It depends on how you conceive the limits of your being. Start where you can start. If something announces itself as in need of repair that you could repair, fix it. Fix a hundred things like that, your life will be a lot different." On fixing what you repeat every day: "People tend to think of their daily routines as trivial. You get up, brush your teeth, have breakfast. Those probably constitute 50% of your life. People think, they're mundane, I don't need to pay attention to them. No, that's exactly wrong. The things you do every day are the most important things you do. Hands down. Just do the arithmetic." On staying within your competence: "Sometimes you don't know how to fix something. Imagine you're walking down the street and there's a guy who's alcoholic and schizophrenic and has been homeless for ten years. That's a problem. It would be good if you could fix it, but you haven't got a clue. You walk around that and go find something you could fix. Just because something announces itself as in need of repair doesn't mean it's you, right then and there, who should repair it. You have to have some humility. You don't walk up to a helicopter that isn't working and just start tinkering away." Peterson shares the key insight: "As soon as you give your mind a genuine aim, it'll reconfigure the world in keeping with that aim. That's actually how you see to begin with. You've all seen the video where you watch basketballs being tossed back and forth, and while you're doing that, a gorilla walks into the middle of the video and you don't see it. If you thought about that experiment for five years, that would be about the right amount of time to spend thinking about it." He explains what it reveals: "What it shows you is that you see what you aim at. If you can get one thing through your head, that would be a good one. You see what you aim at. One inference you might draw from that is: be careful what you aim at. What you aim at determines the way the world manifests itself to you. So if the world is manifesting itself in a very negative way, one thing to ask is: are you aiming at the right thing?"

I see plenty of interest and questions about ASMR models the past few days. No you don't need to be an ASMRist to get one. Any artist can draw it for you as long as they separate some of the important parts for movement. It's MUCH cheaper than a whole new model and very cost effective for events and fun stuff all year long. Just get a cozy pose to be able to use it with everything else and a few toggles if you wanna be fancy. Art & Rig wise, it's much cheaper. Feel free to ask anything else in the comments.

✨ To inspire more people to go build something now that we have AI to help us (especially non-tech people, cause I still know so many who are scared of building something): I added a [ BUILD IT ] button to It's like a mini-Lovable/Replit/v0: Any idea you see you like, you can click [ BUILD IT ], and it will use Opus 4.6 to build a landing page for it And then you can download the code it generated It's not a full startup of course, but a nice preview of what it can be, to give you an idea and inspire you to build it out further The code is live streamed also so you can see it being built 😊 Ironically this itself took me 1 hour to build with AI too Completely free and I pay for the tokens (please don't abuse it :D)

Building with AI gets easier every day. Here is an open-source library that makes integrating AI into an application extremely easy: Star the repository! This library alone can make React the best front-end framework out there! There are a bunch of cool things I like about CopilotKit. Here are 3 of them: 1. It allows you to take any -powered agent and bring it into your application. (This is a brand-new feature!) 2. You can build an AI-powered chatbot in your application. The chatbot will have access to your context and can act on the application. 3. You can build a RAG workflow to process and answer questions from a real-time knowledge base. I recorded a video to show you how simple it is to make some of this happen. A few lines of code, and you are in business. Here is a link to the sample application: CopilotKit is open-source. You can self-host it. You can use it with any LLM. Thanks to the team for showing me their tool and collaborating with me on this post!

Databricks CEO Ali Ghodsi describes the difficulties of building a business around open source: "You have to hit two home runs, consecutively." "Your first home run - and you're banking on hitting that home run - is that your open source project takes over the world. Everybody wants to download it." If you don't hit that home run, Ali says, you just shot yourself in the foot. You just gave away your IP and got nothing back for it. But even if you hit this home run, you still don't have a monetizable business. You still can't make any money. So you have to hit the second home run: "You need a 10x innovation on top of the open source. That's the proprietary value you'll provide companies. That's why they'll come to you. Otherwise, they can get the open source anywhere." If you don't hit the second home run, the hyperscalers pick up your open source model, and they offer it for almost-free. "Getting into open source and monetizing is not an easy sport. Preferably don't get into it, because you might get hurt."

This is so cool. In the next Codex update, multi agents will get a massive flexibility upgrade. "Hey Codex, when you implement this plan, I want you to delegate all the lower complexity tasks to GPT 5.3 Spark subagents" Instead of needing to create 100 different custom agent roles for different situations, you can just prompt your agent to spawn whatever model or reasoning level you want. With only natural language. No config files. No pre-defined roles. Just tell the orchestrator what to use and it listens.
