Strangers wearing Meta glasses could soon identify you on sight, and the secret code to do it is already hiding on 50 million phones... A WIRED code analysis found a hidden feature called "NameTag" inside the Meta AI app that pairs with its Ray-Ban and Oakley smart glasses. Once activated, it converts every face the glasses see into a biometric faceprint and checks it against a database on the phone, one built to receive updates from Meta's servers. The components have been there since January, even as Meta publicly insisted it was still "thinking through" the idea. Researchers who tested it got back two words: "Person recognized." $META delaying the launch of Ray-Ban Display smart glasses in Europe due to higher-than-expected demand in the US is great news. The numbers are still irrelevant, but Zuck’s vision — where the ~2 billion people who already wear glasses every day eventually switch to smart glasses — is slowly starting to gain traction. A world where smart glasses become the default device for many isn’t that far away. And for now, META is years ahead of its closest competitor. All $META needs to do is successfully integrate these smart glasses with a frontier AI model.

GPT Sol is the first model that has been able to work in 3D Unity/Blender basically autonomously. Since Sunday, I have had an agent building out a noir mystery game from a plan.md. The idea is to have the "voice in your head" be an AI agent trained on noir mannerism and each NPC will be a unique fine-tune for open ended voice conversations. Sol has created the pre-art, built the levels and rigged the characters. Still really rough but amazing how far we have come in a couple years as I watch it build while I do my work on another monitor. Praying for more resets so it can keep working through the week.

Got a pair of the Ray-Ban Meta glasses as a birthday gift and, slowly I'm starting to like them. The photo and video quality is not bad (not at iPhone level yet), you can stream Spotify, take calls, and just point them at something and ask Meta AI what it is or to translate text. The trickiest part so far is getting the framing right so shots aren't cut off or off-centre, and you need to avoid moving your head too fast or it affects the quality. They also go dark in bright sun and stay see-through indoors or at night, which I love since you can actually wear them inside too. In restaurants for example. Below are some shots I took in the Bahamas and Mexico. (and to add, I have no affiliation with the brand and this is simply me sharing my experience:))
