Finally got around to fitting the NAKAMOTO MINING ™ ⛏️ $kas fan shroud on my KS3. As most ASIC miners know, these things are LOUD. They’re not something you can take home, plug in, and leave humming away without destroying everyone else’s sanity! Enter fan shrouds. They are game-changers, allowing you to take your existing miner, attach a shroud and an 8” fan on the end, and enjoy near silence. There is a range of different fans you can buy, but the one I usually go for is the AC Infinity S8. Cheaper options are available, so it’s best to research what works best for your budget. Lastly, you’ll need fan simulators, which are small devices that trick the miner into thinking the four large fans are still attached. This is important because, by default, the miner will not start if it doesn’t detect them. Depending on the model of miner you’re using, you’ll need to research what is most appropriate for you (more on that later…). Parts: 1x Fan Shroud 1x 8" Fan 4x Fan Simulator's 1. Unscrew the four large fans. 2. Remove the top cover. Disconnect the four large fans and connect your fan simulators. 3. Screw the rear/front shrouds into the existing holes on the ASIC using the provided screws. 4. Connect the 8” fan and use the metal clamp to secure the shroud onto the fan. (I usually place the fan at the rear of the unit in a ‘push’ configuration.) 5. Voila! I would honestly rate this a 2 out of 10 on the difficulty scale and encourage anyone with an ASIC running at home to consider this modification. It’s especially worthwhile because it is fully reversible if needed. Note: My earlier comment on choosing a fan simulator based on compatibility was a bit of foreshadowing, as once I booted up my KS3, I discovered that neither of the fan simulators I had on hand (No brand simulator and Njord Cloudline Simulator) worked with my miner. If anyone from the Pivotal Pleb Tech team can confirm if your NJORD-CL-V1-r1.0.0 is compatible with Bitmain's KS3, that would be awesome as I love your product. I have one on all my other ASIC miners! 😁 Anyway, in the meantime I'll have to revert today's install but as you can see - this really isn't difficult so if you're on the fence about doing this to your miner, I would encourage you to go for it!

The #GTA 3 port to the Sega #Dreamcast has been progressing at an incredible pace. It's been amazing to see the whole DC community come together to tag-team this "impossible" project... Here it is running on a stock DC, no longer requiring the 32MB RAM hardware modification, only a few weeks into development. Since I finally got the time to sit down, build the codebase, and look into some of what I think is the critical path for performance, let's talk about some technical shit, and some of the future steps I think can be taken to further improve performance. First of all, I want everyone to take note that this is NOT a port of the PS2 version. This is a port of the PC version, which has extra content, increased draw distance, improved textures, and other things that have actually increased the challenge here... Whether the DC version will ultimately have these additions or not will remain to be seen, but we're running into plenty of shit that the PS2 didn't have to worry about (like these big-ass PC replay saves won't fit onto a Visual Memory Unit!) Secondly, lets talk about what is and isn't currently optimized, because it's absolutely vital that the DC's hardware is fully utilized here for the sake of performance and achieving a competitive polygon count. Unlike with modern devices, where the whole graphics pipeline is handled by the GPU, both the PS2 and Dreamcast were responsible for transforming and doing lighting calculations for each vertex BEFORE they got submitted to the GPU. The PS2 had a vector coprocessor to do this, while the Dreamcast had a few extremely important SIMD and fast math assembly instructions on its CPU to do these computations. Up until literally just a few hours ago (not shown in this footage), the Dreamcast's SH4 was doing 100% of these operations in slow-ass plain C and C++ code, which is absolutely sub-optimal and is immediately bogging down its CPU with just transforming vertices, bottlenecking the entire graphics pipeline on the fist T&L stage, and also leaving less CPU time for handling other gameplay logic... this is going to absolutely have to be addressed (and already has begun to be). Another issue that is crippling performance here is the fact that the models are all using individual triangles rather than triangle strips, which the Dreamcast's PVR GPU was designed to handle better... Converting these models to use strips rather than individual triangles will result in MANY different gainz for the DC, as you're going from 3N to N+2 vertices per triangle. Converting the models to triangle strips will 1) reduce load times, since model assets will be smaller 2) reduce the amount of video memory required to hold these vertices on the GPU 3) reduce the amount of shit that must be transferred from the CPU to the GPU and 4) give us back a bunch of CPU time, since the SH4 will be less bogged down transforming redundant vertices! TL;DR: This is still EXTREMELY suboptimal in terms of fully utilizing the graphical potential of the Dreamcast. There is going to be a LOT that can be done still to both improve performance and polygon counts, so stay tuned! FINALLY: Mad respect and love to Stefanos Kornilios Mitsis Poiitidis, for doing an amazing job leading this project, and to Frogbull , Esppiral, and everyone else who is helping us stick it to the PS2 by making this happen! #gamedev #retrogaming #cplusplus

Anime.com announcement by Azuki is such a big win for every anime fan in the world. For years, anime fans turned to piracy because official options were fragmented, pricey or packed with ads. Anime.com changes that: no ads, no subs, no bullshit. Just free anime with friends. ————————————- The “How” is even more powerful: Blind boxes, stickers and products from authentic partnerships with the top anime IPs in the world. This means fans get to enjoy anime for free, while creators and studios get a place to build deeper relationship with fans. Fans get free anime while IP holders and studios finally get the support they deserve via blind boxes and product monetisation. ————————————- Vision is clear: Anime.com wants to be the #1 anime streaming platform in the world. First step: Free anime Live streaming. Yup. Easily the number one vertical in media and entertainment around the world. IP Partnerships: First Anime.com premier is coming up and will feature a top 5 anime on myanimelist. With More IPs coming. Opportunity: No other anime streaming platform in the world is exploring live streaming. Anime.com has the edge here. Past use cases explored: Enter The Garden anime episode 2 was live streamed on Anime.com and Fate strange fake on YT. ————————————- Some deeper and fun stuff that was discussed in Garden gathering #13: Anime.com revenue goes into > $anime buybacks > streaming licenses > product build > activations > expansion plans. Anime.com has done live streaming, blind boxes and sticker use cases before. The tech is ready and scalable to more IPs. Azuki holders will always be #1 when it comes to access and front row seats to dope experiences worldwide. Anime.com is built on Animechain L3 on Arbitrum and has already onboarded 5M+ wallets via account abstraction. A lot of anime IPs and luxury companies expressed interest to collab with Azuki. Q4 will be stacked with announcements. Garden gathering will be more frequent and often to make sure the communication is on point. ————————————- Currently there’s 300K+ people visiting the platform monthly from the numbers I dug up. This will be 30M+ in a year or two. I’m so bullish, both as an anime fan and a web3 native. A step in the right direction. That’s a wrap, thanks for reading. IKZ ⛩️

I gave a talk at GPU MODE workshop last week on llm.c - the origin story of llm.c - being naked in the world without PyTorch and having to re-invent Array, Autograd, Device, Dtype, Compile, Distributed - how to port a PyTorch layer to 1) explicit PyTorch - and then to 2) write the backward pass - 3) port forward & backward pass to C - 4) string all the layers together - achieving one file of C with no dependencies that compiles and runs ~instantly, where all memory is pre-planned and allocated a single time, fully deterministic, portable code that can run on a potato or a von Neumann probe - how most of llm.c was built at 1am-7am in a water villa porch in Maldives and why this is the recommended way to develop software - convert all of it to run in CUDA on GPU in fp32 - port matmul to cuBLAS - port attention to cuDNN flash-attention - introduce bfloat16 mixed precision - introduce many more optimizations and features like kernel fusions, Packed128, stochastic rounding, full determinism - add multi-GPU training, NCCL, sharded optimizer - add multi-node with MPI or file system or socket - reproduce GPT-2 (1.6B) on one 8XH100 node in 24 hours for $672 in llm.c, achieving (at the time) 29% less memory, 19% faster training that PyTorch nightly, and much faster compile & run - how open source development attracts Avengers from the internet - port to training Llama 3 imminent (branch exists) - many other notable forks - last thought: how software abstractions like Python/PyTorch and everything else really exist only because humans are finite in knowledge, IQ and attention, and how with increasing AI capability LLMs may export custom binaries like llm.c for any application directly, tearing apart and refactoring all abstractions as needed. It's PS5 RDNA 1.5 all over again, and reading responses, like a certain fandom never gets tired of being let down or uninformed. There's reasons PS5 often outperforms Xbox Series X despite the latter having 44% more compute than PS5 and being "full RDNA 2", which Digital Foundry did a video on. As I said at the start of the gen, most RDNA2 features Xbox/PC fans claim PS5 is missing, it was unlikely to use as they're Microsoft DirectX RDNA tie in features, and PS5 doesn't use DX but instead its own proprietary custom API called AGC. Why would PlayStation push for Microsoft DirectX RDNA features, when they don't use DirectX? Any AGC API specific graphics features PS5 uses (that Xbox wouldn't have) are not widely publicly advertised, as PlayStation don't need to advertise them the way Microsoft does due to their PC DirectX market. Thus every customisation PS5 has (which Kepler seemingly glosses over or doesn't recognise), from its faster clockspeeds, cache scrubbers, I/O set up, CPU alleviating decompression, DMA controllers and processors, geometry engine etc, will have been specifically designed around AGC or vice versa, NOT DirectX RDNA2 features. PS6 will be no different. There may be DirectX RDNA5 features they do not need or use, but there will inevitably be other unique customisations of their own and for their OWN proprietary API instead, no doubt bolstered by Amethyst custom features from their partnership with AMD. If history is any indicator, PlayStation is right to prioritise their own API and modifications, as these tend to have greater cost to perfomance results for the hardware vs the competition. The RDNA2 DirectX image below is taken directly from AMD's website, and again, PlayStation doesn't use Microsoft's DirectX. #PS6

Here's an interesting trend I've noticed among non-fiction authors: The Direct Pre-Order. Instead of doing pre-orders through Amazon, B&N, and other major marketplaces, you sell your books directly through your own (or your publisher's) online store. Why do this? There are three huge benefits: 1. Build a direct connection with your readers 2. Offer bundles and unique pre-order perks 3. Keep 40% more of each sale by avoiding Amazon royalty fees Plus, it's just a better experience for your readers. Look at the examples I share in the video. We are doing direct pre-orders for Damn Gravity's two upcoming titles: 'The Experimentation Machine' by Jeff Bussgang and 'Building Rocketships' by Oji Udezue and Ezinne Udezue But we aren't the only ones. Jim O'Shaughnessy is doing this with his new book (published by ). Louis Grenier and Justin Moore | Sponsorship Coach are too (@TiltPublishing ). It's not a new thing... HBR and other indie publishers have experimented with this for a long time. But now it's easier than ever to pull off with platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, etc. The Direct Pre-Order has tradeoffs... your sales don't count towards major lists and shipping is a bit more expensive (compared to FREE via Amazon Prime). But I believe it's worth the direct connection to you make with your readers. We will offer our books on Amazon, B&N, and all the major platforms when we launch early next year. But for Pre-Orders, we love being direct. What do you think?

We sat down with Philip Johnston, co-founder and CEO of Starcloud, at MIT to discuss why the future of data centers might be in space. After graduating Y Combinator less than 2 years ago, Starcloud just raised an impressive $170M Series A at a $1.1B valuation led by Benchmark and EQT Ventures & Growth. The conversation covers everything from solar physics and cooling systems to GPU economics, radiation hardening, launch costs, and satellite design. Philip also shares what it takes to build a unicorn deeptech startup. We discuss his experience with YC, the skepticism around their demoday launch, and the crazy last minute race to get Starcloud’s first satellite onboard their scheduled Falcon flight. Okay. Let's talk about favoritism. In today's entertainment industry, it's sadly common to see companies and artists show clear favoritism, prioritizing international fans, influencers, or famous reactors (excluding collaborators of course) in exchange for exposure, good reviews, or a popularity boost. Some fans are given more perks, better access, or personal interactions simply because they have a platform. And while that may make business sense for some, it often leaves the "ordinary" fans (the quiet, long-time supporters) feeling overlooked and undervalued. And I'm so proud na hindi ito gawain ng #SB19 and #1ZEntertainment. (Very different noong nasa SBT pa sila kasi may mga ano dun...lol, iykyk) Time and time again, they have shown that all A'TIN, local or international, young or old, famous or unknown, are treated with the same respect, care, and fairness. When it comes to fan service, there's no such thing as "special treatment" or "VIP attention" based on fame, reach, or race. Every fan is seen. Every fan matters. Ticket selling? Open and fair for everyone. Merch drops? Walang shortcut. Puksaan kung puksaan talaga. Galit-galit muna sa ticketing site, may the fastest hands and strongest internet win. Walang "special lane" para sa sikat or may malaking reach. Whether you're an international reactor, a big account, or just a regular fan who has been quietly supporting SB19 since day one, you fall in line like the rest of A'TIN. No one gets priority treatment. No one gets left behind. Even fans who go the extra mile, those who spend big on merch, attend multiple concerts, or give expensive gifts to the boys, are not treated as "more special" or "higher" than anyone else. 1Z Entertainment makes sure that these generous fans are appreciated, yes, but never at the expense of the rest of the fandom. Kahit gaano pa kalaki ang nagastos mo o kabongga ang gift mo, pantay-pantay pa rin ang turing. You still line up like everyone else. You still click for tickets like the rest. Walang shortcut, walang pa-VIP treatment. Effort talaga lahat. SB19 themselves make this sincerity felt. They make eye contact with fans in every corner of the venue, they read random comments during livestreams, they acknowledge fans whether you're holding a huge banner or simply smiling from the back row. Their gestures, whether big or small, prove that their gratitude extends to every A'TIN, not just the loudest, the richest, or the most visible ones. And 1Z Entertainment reflects this perfectly. Opportunities for interaction, whether through ticketing, content, or fan meets, are made fair and accessible to all. Clout, money, or fame doesn't get you a shortcut. Being "just another fan" never means you matter less. At a time when favoritism in fan service has sadly become normal, SB19 and 1Z remain proudly and refreshingly different. They honor the very people who brought them to where they are today, every single A'TIN, by making sure no one is left out, no one is treated as less, no one is made to feel unimportant. They will make each of us feel seen, heard, and loved. And that's why being an A'TIN feels different. It feels right. Very fulfilling and very rewarding. Ramdam mong pantay-pantay lahat. Walang pa-VIP, walang pa-special treatment, walang pinapaborang fans. Because here, everyone matters equally. Alam n'yo kung bakit? Ang ultimate bias kasi ng SB19...lahat ng A'TIN. 💙 SB19 Official #SB19xATIN 1Z ENTERTAINMENT
