The Government will not measure the volume of sewage going into our waterways - only the duration. And guess what? The water companies are delighted. The Liberal Democrats' plans will force water companies to reveal the volume of sewage going into our rivers, lakes, and seas.

🚨 Raw sewage pumped into the Thames. During a record-breaking heatwave. 🤢💩 People should be able to enjoy our rivers without risking their health. Instead testing at Fulham Reach Boat Club this week found 58,000 E. coli per 100ml of river water - 58 times higher than Defra's safe threshold‼️ This is the consequence of years of neglect, broken promises and a water company that has prioritised debt and shareholder returns over protecting people and nature. Our rivers are paying the price. So are all of us. The Government must act NOW: place Thames Water into Special Administration and take this essential public service out of private hands.

2 hours later we are back down and it's still discharging but with sewage litter now. Rivers are so much more than flowing water. We are bringing the filming gear down to get an insight underwater. Oh the joys. 1/2 #sewage #pollution #environment #rivers

I raised Scotland's widespread water pollution issue, particularly sewage-related pollution in our rivers & on our beaches. Scottish Ministers are failing to address this problem. Scotland must take urgent action, and only a Scottish Labour Government in 2026 can deliver this.

If you are powerful, the rules simply do not apply to you. Boris Johnson and his parties, Suella Braverman’s speeding, and water companies dumping sewage in our rivers. These are not exceptions, they are features of our broken political system.

All across the country, academic workers are ruthlessly exploited by very wealthy universities. But now they are standing up and fighting back.

Update from the Tijuana River: Sewage and garbage continue to pour into the United States—polluting our waters and endangering public health. The good news? More people are paying attention. The bad news? Mexico is still dumping sewage into our country. This is unacceptable. We must keep fighting to hold Mexico accountable and protect our communities.

🚨 NEWS! We’re taking the Government to court. Today, the High Court granted River Action permission to challenge the Government over its failure to publish a clear policy for dealing with failing water companies. Why does this matter? With Thames Water facing serious financial instability and ongoing performance failures, the public deserves to know how and when the Government would step in. 💧 Our water is an essential public service. 🔍 Decisions about its future cannot be made behind closed doors. ⚖️ The Government must be transparent and accountable. Today’s ruling means our challenge can now proceed to a full hearing - an important step towards greater transparency and accountability in England’s water industry. We’ll keep pushing to make sure decisions about the future of our water are made openly, accountably and in in the best interest of the public and environment. 👉 Find out more about our legal challenge: #LegalAction #RescueOurRivers

Paramedics, firefighters & dispatchers are doing everything they can to fill in the gaps, but Alberta’s EMS crisis is pushing all first responders to a breaking point. As wildfires rage on across AB, we're left with even less resources to help our communities. Lives are at risk.

It was a pleasure to be joined by Feargal Sharkey in Oughtibridge and Stocksbridge to highlight the unforgivable level of sewage incidents across our constituency. Labour will take the tough action required to get water companies to clean up their act and clean up our waterways

A ceasefire may have paused fighting — but not the crisis. In Iran, rising prices, a volatile currency, and years of sanctions are pushing daily life to the brink, with many fearing the economic pain will outlast the conflict.

Many hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women, and children in Gaza today are on the brink. This is a dire humanitarian crisis and it's getting worse by the minute. Congress must take action. The Biden Administration must take action. The world must take action.
