Cooking the Climate Data See that white louvered box? Since November 2017, Sydney’s official temperatures have been recorded inside it at Observatory Hill. The screen is sited in what is the hottest available location at Observatory Hill, with heat reflecting from the adjacent old stone building and its tin roof only a few metres away directly to the south. BOM’s own parallel data shows that this new site records temperatures up to 3°C warmer than the previous location. This has cook Sydney’s temperature record - yet this cooked data 3as used in a study claiming Sydney’s summers are becoming longer. 😱

In your browser, with you can actually drive anywhere in the world🚀 You can also create multiplayer races🚗🏎🚓 The world is generated ahead of you in real-time from OpenStreetMap data combined with satellite elevation data as you drive. Just added a WIP of night mode and replaced the placeholder terrain/road textures with some nicer physics-based textures. Also now anywhere you go a million street lights will be added too. This is actually slowly starting to look like the promised Need For Speed + Google Maps #threejs #gamedev #indiedev Single player mode: Just find a location, click anywhere on the map and click "Hop Here". After parachuting down hold X to call the car to the road. Multiplayer mode: Click on "Create race" and select start and finish points. A route will be plotted. Click on Share Race to get the link and start racing!

Using advanced ice core analysis, researchers show temperatures have varied naturally through the Holocene with no sustained warming trend. The slight rise noted from 1950 to 1990 falls entirely within natural variability, just 0.2 to 0.3 C. Key Antarctic climate indices (the Southern Annular Mode, Zona Wave 3 and Indian Ocean Dipole) all remain stable and within natural bounds. Antarctica is not warming abnormally, as the headlines claim. If anything, the data show cooling since 1990.

In the early 2000s, climate models projected warming, but the actual observations did not follow. The response to this discrepancy was not to revisit the models, it was to revisit the measurements. So... More weather stations were added in the Arctic, the fastest warming region on earth, increasing its influence on the global average. Large areas with sparse measurements were filled using estimates. Stations in regions showing cooling, including parts of South America, were removed or down-weighted. Sea surface temperatures were also reprocessed: older ship readings were adjusted cooler, with recent buoy data blended warmer. Homogenization algorithms lowered earlier temperatures and raised later ones, further steepening the trend. The models stayed fixed. The observations were adjusted to match them. Climate scientists reversed the scientific method.
