JD Vance is TORCHING Microsoft for abusing the H1B visa program: "Last year, Microsoft laid off 6,000 American workers. At the same time, the company benefited from 6,300 H1B visas. You cannot lay off American workers and then replace them with foreign indentured servants."

Needs to be shut down. I spent 25 years in high tech and it’s much worst than people think.

Microsoft and Bill Gates also requested the expansion of OPT from the obliging Bush Admin. Shut it all down

This has been an incredible week for the future of MAGA. Rubio speaking about the spirit of Western Civilization in front of the Parthenon and Vance reclaiming America from subversive oligarchs is an era defining one-two punch.

So END THE H1B PROGRAM IN IT'S ENTIRETY. No one else gets a free ride. No one else gets to displace American labor. Hire American or go bankrupt.

It's about time. They were doing this in 2007 when I last worked there.

@megbasham A step in the right direction but be wary. Watch for the suspension to be lifted after the elections. Big tech has invested too much into Trump’s pay for play for this to be permanent. Notice the wording, “suspended” not “terminated.” This is a campaign ploy.

@jdvance sounds like he didn't run it past @realDonaldTrump Today @realDonaldTrump is giving the CEO @satyanadella of @microsoft our nations highest award for innovation. In his own book Satya brags about how he manipulated #h1b and green card process

Wish they revoke Microsoft’s all current H1B and H4 EAD visas on both fulltime and contract roles. This will bring jobs back to Americans.

Let me know when they start deporting these people and issuing fines and sanctions against the companies. Otherwise nothing is changing, it's just talk.

END the H1B program. And put a pause on all legal immigration until we have a handle on the illegal invasion. We still have over 40 million illegals to go

If they had been doing all of this from the first few months of the administration and avoided war with Iran republicans would be winning the midterms in a landslide

He brings this up now when he knows the GOP is about to lose the midterms. Maybe he should've rallied against H1B visas during the years the GOP had control.

Does this not mean that the US government, not Microsoft, is paying the wages, assuming there is some government subsidy going on.

Should President Trump terminate the H-1B visa program? As an immigration attorney who advocates for an America-First approach—yes, I know how rare that is—I think Trump should do it for three reasons: 1. Displacement of American Workers The H1B program allows companies to lay off American workers and replace them with foreign workers who are often paid less, prioritizing cost savings over U.S. job security. This undermines the claim that H-1B visas are used only when qualified American workers are unavailable. For example, Microsoft—which is making record profits these days—recently laid off over 15,000 American workers, including software engineers and IT staff, while simultaneously filing over 14,000 H1B visa petitions. Reports indicate that many of these visas were for roles in the same locations and job categories as the laid-off workers, suggesting direct replacement. 2. Wage Suppression and Exploitation The H1B visa program enables companies to hire foreign workers at lower wages, suppressing salaries for American workers and exploiting H-1B workers who are tied to their employer-sponsored visas. This creates a race-to-the-bottom effect on wages in tech and other industries. H-1B workers also face exploitation because they risk deportation if terminated, with only a 60-day grace period to find a new sponsor. 3. Abuse by Outsourcing Firms Outsourcing firms, particularly Indian IT companies, exploit the H1B program by securing a disproportionate share of visas to supply low-cost labor, often for non-specialized roles. These firms engage in practices like filing visas for nonexistent jobs or “benching” workers, undermining the program’s purpose of addressing genuine skill shortages.
