.Jocelyn Benson: I've called for a moratorium on any new data center developments until we have real guardrails in place to protect local control, protect our water, require data centers to shoulder the burden of any energy usage, and invest in community benefits agreements that will protect our communities....

@JocelynBenson If it's coming from the left, you had better check for yourself as there will always be sleight-of-hand involved.

Jocelyn Benson has a data center problem, and a moratorium isn’t going to solve it. I say not one more data center until we PROTECT our people. We need LOCAL CONTROL. No higher energy prices. No pollution. Protect our water. And prioritize blighted properties and brownfields.

🚨NEW AD: David Crowley wants Wisconsin to become a data center hub for the “entire globe.” That’s not my vision. No new data centers without strong standards that protect our farmland and water, shield Wisconsin ratepayers, ban secret NDAs, and end data center tax breaks.

JB Pritzker has given over $1 billion in tax breaks to data centers, at one point making us the #2 state for data centers in the country (we're #4 now). All with no guardrails to protect local residents or regulate energy or water usage. So it's no surprise to see the room packed with opponents when a 3rd data center campus was being proposed in Hoffman Estates. Pritzker and Springfield failed to pause tax incentives for data centers and failed to put in place common sense regulations that ensure data centers pay all their energy costs, limit water usage, and contribute to a property tax relief fund for Illinoisans. Vote Independent in November and we will get it done.

Before companies rush to build AI data centers in Florida, we need to understand the impact on our communities. That is why I am calling for a moratorium until we have real answers.

My opponent has pushed the lie that my family has profited from data centers but the reality is: It was him, not his spouse, who made millions buying stock in data center companies, cut taxes for data center developments, and voted 4 times against local control. The call is coming from inside the house, Congressman.

You don’t see toxic data centers near Mar-a-Lago or at Elon Musk’s house. Why? Because they think they are the only class of people that deserve clean land, air, & water. Memphis needs a data center moratorium until proper regulations are passed to protect our communities.

Governor DeSantis put smart safeguards in place for data centers. Senate Bill 484 ensures that utility rates will not go up due to data centers. It also ensures that any developer has to get a permit from our water management districts — that protects our aquifers from abuse. I will ensure these ironclad protections remain in place to protect Floridians.

I’ll put a moratorium on data centers until we can protect our water, keep utility bills down, and require they create well-paying union jobs. John James cut their taxes, bought their stocks, and voted 4 times against local control. I’ll put Michigan first.

Gina Hinojosa: "I have called on Greg Abbott to issue a moratorium and call an emergency special session so that we can pass laws to protect Texans. Right now, we have the wild west of data centers in Texas ... Greg Abbott is all talk ... he's received $20 million from data center interests."

I stood with local and state elected officials to say that we cannot approve any more AI data centers until we have federal guardrails to protect local communities like Saline Township from being run over by the likes of DTE, Oracle, and OpenAI.

When it comes to data centers, Michigan should show the country how to do it right. That means: Data center companies, not Michigan families, pay for their own energy and grid upgrades – so rates don't go up. Data centers can't harm our water, air, or environment. Data centers pay their fair share in taxes to fund our schools, roads, and communities. Data centers are built with local union labor.

.Keisha Lance Bottoms: My opponent has invested in at least 4 companies that builds data centers. Right now in Texas, there's a community asking him to not build a massive data center in their community, and he is moving forward. He cannot be trusted on this. I want to pause on all new construction until we create a path forward that best serves all of Georgia.

My conversation with Governor @rondesantis on data centers. I stand with the Governor and our state law: -Local control. If a community doesn’t want a data center — no data center. -Your bills do not go up. -Our water is protected.

.James Talarico: We can start by cracking down on these data centers across the state, that are jacking up our utility bills, and using up all our water. We just found out that Ken Paxton, the most corrupt politician in Texas, has taken nearly half a million dollars from data center companies. That explains why as Attorney General, Ken Paxton ignored our neighbors in Hood County after they asked him to help temporarily block the construction of a data center in their community. Texans cannot afford a senator who's bought by big data centers. In the Senate, I will fight to stop data centers from being built in our communities if they cannot meet the most basic demands of those communities.

I’m calling for a moratorium on data centers until Florida has a responsible plan to protect our water, power grid, and communities. Byron Donalds wants to hand pristine Florida land over to the industry funding his campaign. Our state is not for sale.

"A data center is one of the absolute worst economic development tools that you can have in a community. It doesn't create any jobs. It doesn't create any knock-on economic effects, because the only thing that wants to be located next to a data center is a data center." It's time to ban tax breaks for data centers. Pat_Garofalo breaks it down on MS NOW:

When it comes to data centers, Mike Lawler and I could not be more different. I support a data center moratorium; Mike opposes one. I support giving local communities the authority to put guardrails on data centers; Mike voted to ban local control over data centers. As a former lobbyist for the utility monopolies profiting off of data centers, Mike continues to rake in hundreds of thousands from Big Tech. He voted to give them $80 billion in tax breaks for data centers, then voted to make it easier to build them. As your next member of Congress, I’ll ensure utility monopolies don't pass utility costs onto families, hurt our environment, or exploit our communities. #NY17Debate
