When I was at the Pentagon as the Undersecretary of Personnel and Readiness, every promotion for every general and flag officer in the U.S. military came across my desk. Never did we ever talk about quotas for race or gender. Everything that the military does has been based on merit. Any attempts from Republicans to claim otherwise are inaccurate and insulting.

Since posting about the IDF bulldozing Australian graves, I’ve been inundated with the usual “you’re antisemitic” and “remember Islam is the real issue” responses. It is worth asking, how is it acceptable for people to condemn an entire religion, yet any criticism of a government or military action instantly gets labelled as hate? Criticising governments and military decisions isn’t racism. It isn’t religious hatred. It’s part of public discourse in a free society. If that double standard makes people uncomfortable, maybe the conversation needs to happen.

My question to all the doctors and physical fitness experts is: what kind of impact is likely to happen on the body of this jawan when he raises his leg over his head in this manner? His spinal cord—remember, this jawan is not someone who is a PT instructor or into 24×7 physical training. I am sure he does get posted out from here and does other jobs as well. The audience doesn't understand the military decorum of drill or the sanctity attached to it; for them, it's pure entertainment. Have military ceremony, do whatever, but let it be like military drills and not entertainment.

"If the leader is more than one standard deviation of IQ away from the followers, it's a real problem." They slot people into specialties and leadership roles based on IQ scores. And over the years, they kept seeing the same pattern. A leader who is significantly less intelligent than their people struggles to model how those people think. That part is intuitive. But the reverse turns out to be equally true. "It's actually very hard for very smart people to model the internal thought processes of even moderately smart people." A leader who is two standard deviations above the norm of the organisation they're running also loses theory of mind, that ability to hold an accurate model of what's happening inside someone else's head. The gap is too wide in both directions. Andreessen then takes this to its logical conclusion: "If you had a person or a machine that had a thousand IQ or something like it, its understanding of reality would be so alien to the people or the things that it was managing that it wouldn't even be able to connect in any sort of realistic way." How does the Zimbabwean Government feel watching this? Does it make them feel small, ashamed or embarrassed, or do they still have any part of a moral compass left in them? This is not just about Zimbabweans being targeted and turned away from South African hospitals, it is about a failed system in Zimbabwe that has stripped Zimbabweans of their dignity and forced them to beg for the most basic human right; healthcare. What kind of leadership watches its people get humiliated in foreign hospitals like this and still sleeps well at night? What is the point of being a leader if this does not shame and humiliate your claim to leadership?
