🚨 JUST IN: Indianapolis residents SHUT DOWN proposed $1 billion Google Data Center that would have used 1 million gallons of water PER DAY. Google was set to build 500 acre site, but citizens organized and stopped it. People power works. More Perfect Union with the story.

@MorePerfectUS Americans need to do this all over this country. These data centers are pure evil

@MorePerfectUS Let alone Take up Huge amounts of Electricity from the Public that makes Rates go up.

@MorePerfectUS Now let’s ban Congressional stock trading, bribes, corp welfare (it’s not subsidies), lobbyists, think tank funding campaigns, set term limits for all public office…

@MorePerfectUS That is stupid. No data center "uses" 1 million gallons a day any more than a power plant "uses" that much water. That water cools the plant and then is discharged. In most instances it is recycled. Why don't you guys get basic facts right?

@MorePerfectUS The two largest bodies of water in the area could easily handle this usage and it wouldn’t even move the needle. Indy is a dump and apparently the residents are morons who don’t want jobs added to the area…

@MorePerfectUS What a bunch of morons. They think the water just, what, disappears into a black hole? It doesn't. We learned about the water cycle when we were 10.

@MorePerfectUS Data centres are great until the electricity, water and environmental crisis showed up.

@MorePerfectUS The water is ran back into the river you dopes. Water doesn’t disappear.

@MorePerfectUS The people of Tuscon, AZ organized and stopped a dangerous data center that Amazon wanted to build in one of the most drought stricken areas in the country. It would have been a disaster, but people power works.

@MorePerfectUS Google's $1B data center flop in Indiana isn't a loss, it's a win for communities tired of Big Tech's vampire thirst for our water, proving even the search giant can't Google its way out of accountability.

@MorePerfectUS How would it "use" the 1 million gallons per day? Where does the water go? May I suggest a bit of critical thinking?

@MorePerfectUS good for them. the impact of these AI centers are almost unfathomable on the environment, grid and water supplies.

@MorePerfectUS cutting off your nose to spite your face. How many potential jobs and tax income was lost? Indiana’s loss is another state’s gain. What will these folks do when AI displaces them in the workforce?

@MorePerfectUS They're all doing this and getting tax and infrastructure costs and energy use deals that are being passed to tax payers and residential energy costs. It's been happening in my small community. They claim "jobs" but bring almost none after construction.

@MorePerfectUS Let's call it a surveillance center! #SurveillanceCenter

@MorePerfectUS Just imagine what millions of American citizens could accomplish if they weren't all working two jobs and arguing on social media.

@MorePerfectUS The degree to which people are misharacterizing these things is disappointing, and MPU is leading the charge.

@MorePerfectUS We need to continue doing this. Teaching people how dangerous data centers are for our communities.

@MorePerfectUS For context, 1 million gallons/day is the same as ~5,000 homes or ~200 acres of rice. But unlike the homes or rice, the data center is a single high-value user, meaning the water could be easily recycled, allowing the center to serve local residents and biz while providing tax $

@MorePerfectUS Recirculating water to cool is different than depleting water.

@MorePerfectUS Use all the water and spike your electricity costs

@MorePerfectUS Let's have a nationwide freeze on new data centers. These change their vicinity to much not to have some fedreal protective regulation stopping any shenanigans.

@MorePerfectUS So smart. Google will just take the well-paid jobs somewhere else.

@MorePerfectUS Google will return in three months or less with the same proposal. They withdraw until opposition cools or shifts focus, then refine their proposal and resubmit.

@MorePerfectUS You do know they keep using the same water over and over again right?

@MorePerfectUS The average golf course uses 2M gallons of water per week. So they just killed the infrastructure project would’ve been great for the area for watering a par 9 — what a bunch of imbeciles.

@MorePerfectUS Similar happen around where I'm at....they just kept moving it to the next county till one decided not to fight back....had to go 4 over before they found it.

@MorePerfectUS The best part is now they wont have thousands of indians imported because google is too cheap to hire locally.

@MorePerfectUS I hate AI data centers & crypto mines. They're ruining our land, water, & energy infrastructure & lowering the quality of life wherever they're allowed to build. They're parasitic, sucking the life out of communities & driving up costs. The scheme is short-sighted & unnecessary.

@MorePerfectUS

@MorePerfectUS leave it to democrats to scrap a project that would employ 400 people and provide hundreds of construction jobs 🤣🤣 Well done 👏🏽👏🏽

@MorePerfectUS The water doesn’t disappear. Where does it go? Stop making it sound more wasteful than it is.

@MorePerfectUS Well, good thing Indy doesn't need any economic development. Great job, dipshits

@MorePerfectUS 1m gpd is nothing in engineering terms. Comes to about 3 acre feet. You want to see water usage, look at what the quarries are doing. Besides, if you want jobs, gotta use natural resources. Water usage has nothing to do with this backlash. It’s good fuel to add to the 🔥!

@MorePerfectUS They’ll find some poorer less organized neighborhood and stick it there! 😔 @SehrLangsam2
