DSS, forest guards intercept large consignment of medical supplies allegedly destined for wounded ISWAP in Borno By: Zagazola Makama The Department of State Services (DSS) in Borno State, in collaboration with forest guards, has intercepted a large consignment of medical supplies allegedly intended for fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), following recent intelligence-led counter-terrorism operations in the North-East. Security sources said the interception was made on Friday in Kaga Local Government Area during a coordinated operation along a suspected supply route used by insurgent logistics networks operating within and around forested areas in the state. According to the sources, the seized items include substantial quantities of pain relief medications, anti-malaria injections, antibiotics, and other pharmaceutical products, alongside basic consumables believed to be part of battlefield resupply materials. The sources further indicated that the consignment was linked to suspected attempts to replenish ISWAP fighters who reportedly suffered heavy casualties and disruptions in recent intelligence-led operations involving US-AFRICOM and Nigerian security forces. NAF Destroys Bandits’ Enclave in Kankara, Rescues 76 Victims By: Zagazola Makama The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has destroyed the enclave of a notorious bandit kingpin, Babaro, at Pauwa Hill in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State. The precision air strike, carried out between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, led to the rescue of 76 kidnapped victims, including women and children. The Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs in Katsina confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday. According to the ministry, the rescued persons included all those abducted during the recent attack on Unguwan Mantau in Malumfashi Local Government Area. It, however, regretted that one child lost his life during the ordeal. Zagazola reports that Babaro and his gang have been linked to a series of deadly attacks and abductions in parts of Katsina State, including the recent killings in Gidan Mantau. The ministry described the operation as a major breakthrough in the fight against banditry, noting that it reflected the renewed momentum of joint security operations across the state. “The rescue of the kidnapped victims underscores the effectiveness of coordinated air and ground operations,” it said. It commended the Nigerian Air Force, the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their sacrifices and professionalism in reclaiming communities from criminal gangs. The Katsina State Government pledged continued support through logistics, intelligence-sharing and community engagement, while urging citizens to remain vigilant and provide timely information to aid security operations.
