Even if it’s the first time you are driving in the snow and ice, don’t be like this lady. She approached a decent hill while driving a rear wheel drive vehicle, she slows down to a crawl and starts to inch up the hill only to get stuck, she ended up having to back down the hill. Besides leaving the wipers on, what advice would you have given her for a situation like this?

It will be much, much better, 10 times safer than a person. It's not even going to be a contest frankly. So this is a really big deal. Being able to do a software update and have several million cars suddenly go from manual driving to autonomous, I think will be the single biggest asset value increase in history. The normal usage of a passenger car is roughly 10 to 12 hours per week, call it maybe an hour and a half per day. When you drive around you see lots of cars just parked in parking lots because out of the 168 hours in a week, they're used less than 10%, maybe 7%. But once it is autonomous it can be used probably 50 hours a week, maybe more. So it is effectively a fivefold increase in the value of a car overnight. Having no steering wheel or pedals in the Cybercab makes a much bigger difference than I expected. In a Waymo or even Model Y robotaxi, you’ve got a steering wheel turning and an empty driver’s seat you can’t sit in. It keeps reminding you that someone/something is missing. In the Cybercab, there’s no reminder that there should be a driver at all. They’ve taken all that stuff away, and you I felt much more relaxed, comfortable and safer. Also, the video-watching (ie., Youtube) experience in the Cybercab is something you just need to experience to understand. For 30 minutes, I almost forgot I was in a car… I think it’s the combination of no driver controls, the huge 22 inch screen, great sound system, spacious interior and being able to lean back and adjust the seats to whatever angle. You start to realize how much of a normal car is designed around the person driving. Once you remove that, the whole experience opens up.

Using Tesla FSD and looking out at the road makes you realize that the majority of drivers out there are barely paying attention while they manually drive their vehicles. It is beyond frustrating that people do this, but the genie is out of the bottle now - I don’t think there’s anything society can do to convince people not to use their phones while driving. That is why self-driving needs to become the norm as soon as possible. Not only does it make YOU safer while using it, it makes it safer for everyone else on the road who is impacted by how you drive. I really hope insurance companies start to reduce rates for people who use autonomous driving features - I really think that would be a big motivator (money) for people to start using FSD.

My driver profile should be DELETED. I realized that the more I use FSD, the further back my seat has gone into a lounging position, not great for actual driving when I need to re-park. So, I set a manual driving profile that pushes my seat up and steering wheel closer. Hopefully just a temporary solution until Tesla nails unique parking scenarios. I want to manually park my car once and have it remember that exact spot every single time.
