Lidar can't read signs, or even see the lane lines. You still need cameras, so why not just make a camera based system? 🤔

I think the issue is that there isn't enough lidar. Just add more it will fix the problem /s

This is actually super cool. I’ve not heard of gated cameras. Just googled, neat technology. Also I didn’t know lidar would see the smog from the exhaust. Seems like it adds noise more than it should.

oof.. this is another thing I keep thinking about.. regardless of input, you still need an AI model to predict what might happen like a human would. What better data set for that than vision?

The problem with using both is correctly analyzing the different data from them and choosing the correct solution if one sensor confuses the other.

A lot of Lidar supporters won't understand what they are looking at here. Only someone with some programming skill and good engineering sense can understand the Lidar problem.

Quit good prof that @Tesla doing the right thing not a change you can navigate only on lidar and if you have more the one sensor input you will have tremendous problem when they disagree etc.

There’s only one clear winner between LiDAR and Vision.

Not sure what your insinuating, it’s not what the human can see but what the computer can understand very different things.

A child that lays in the middle of the road wearing dirt colored clothing at night is done for either way
