morning bath robe rant listening

basically a true architect is a professional procrastinator

This is so good. So, so accurate. Coding architects are the foundation of all scalable software.

Uncle Bob just stabbed thousands of corporate Power Point Buzzword painters (aka Software Architects) in the heart. Now the’ll sit all day in Visio to make a diagram explaining how wrong Uncle Bob is. The day is ruined.

When I know an architect is not an architect: “I create all my architecture on AWS” Or “I work with devops and the client to decide on the solution and then hand it to devs”
Next rant: people who say happy Mondays

In simple words an architecture is a set of decisions on the software project that address the most risky areas and Uncle Bob did great job making it clear that if an architect doesn't code he cannot know for sure what these risky areas are.

Agreed. Some decisions should be made as late as possible to keep implementation options open while requirements are emerging and evolving.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard from a single soul who has had anything good to say about software architects. This is actually probably the least critical rant on architects I’ve come across.

At this point I don't even need to click unmute to understand the meaning
