That's the wrong way to teach those problems. It doesn't actually show why. It's using goofy math magic.

WRONG POST please don't post such incorrect tricks, it can destroy a young ones career. Do- 34X36 or just 4X5 Formulas are called FORMULAS for a reason. It has to give correct answer for all equations.
