There was nowhere else for the Waymo to go in this instance. It could go around the van without penetrating the vehicles in the lane to its left. It moved over as much as it could without causing a larger accident. We don't know if it pulled over later (they do that) to get out of traffic lane.

Why do you think this was caused by LiDAR? The RGB color sensors are 99% of the input data to the neural network. LiDAR is just tiny amount of extra data.

Imagine if he had LiDAR, this would never have happened. 🙄

There was nothing the Waymo could’ve done in time. If it swerved too hard it would hit something the the opposite lane.

My FSD just avoided an old lady who cut across multiple lanes without even the smallest shoulder check.

The single windshield wipe after the crash had me laughing

1) the car at fault was hidden behind another car so not Waymo’s fault. 2) it still did a maneuver to go around but other cars on otherside of road prevented from full escape or would have been more worse collision. 3) it did pull over once there was more space.

I understand why fangirls like you need FSD. First of all, this collision was not avoidable. There wasn't enough braking distance, and the second lane was occupied. Also, swerving the way Tesla does in the civilized world is illegal. This shitposting doesn't do any good for Tesla

probably a developer use the wrong constant and the switch between cameras and lidars didn't work
