This can work on the Wii, I’m pretty sure

Indeed. My adapter USB2GC adapter works anywhere ordinary GameCube controllers do.

That’s awesome bro, we were only talking about it 2 days ago and you said you were cooking something up . I didn’t realise it was almost fully Baked 😂 . Is it where you want it yet or have you got more tinkering to do ? Is it Pi based ? And last but definitely not least, What’s the input lag like ?

Robert Dale Smith's profile picture
Robert Dale Smith9 months ago

yup will run on just about any pico. im calling the firmware joypad os (all in one firmware for creating adapters to convert anything to anything). the firmware is very mature, just adding support for Switch 2 controllers. The added lag is negligible. ~2-10ms at most. The biggest factor will be based on the input controller's own latency.

i just bought a retro adapter thing on aliexpress and it works

Robert Dale Smith's profile picture

Probably BlueRetro based? Great firmware also. I started with USB input devices but gradually adding BT support as well.

Yes, blue retro. Thank you. I know people that would love the wired ability.

How’s the input lag while wired?

Robert Dale Smith's profile picture
Robert Dale Smith9 months ago

Not zero but virtually zero lag added. Latency largely dependent on the USB controller used with my adapter.

@BasedBreton1611 The true question is would you play smash bros. Melee and not bring up the fact that “the controller has a little lag” if you lose? Super important question tbh it’s the determining factor if it’s usable 100%

@BasedBreton1611 By the way I fucking love this no matter what it’s really good for nostalgic gamers

@BasedBreton1611 I am confident enough in this adapter that I would not blame it. It's polling every 1ms, way faster than the gamecube even requests button data. I have a number of users of this adapter that use it for competitions, using USB fight sticks.

Nicely done! I have the two Nintendo allowed me to buy, and a Blueretro BLE adaptor - still need to give it a go!

Robert Dale Smith's profile picture
Robert Dale Smith9 months ago

They let you buy two? I was only allowed one and had to sign up for subscription to just buy it. Should work with beta version of BlueRetro.

I’m in Europe, but my NSO is tied to my South African account. At first I believe it said 1 max, but two months ago it said 2x so maybe things changed? 🦾 I’ll try it out tomorrow!

That's really cool, but you need a USB c cord that's even shorter lol

Short cable was for demo purposes only. 🤣

For the wireless one, would you be able to connect the SAME controller to multiple of those wireless receivers at the same time? Wondering for the case of shiny hunting with one controller on multiple GameCubes simultaneously

Robert Dale Smith's profile picture
Robert Dale Smith9 months ago

The controller itself is limited to connecting to one device at a time. What you want could be achieved with a custom adapter though. A single device could pair to the controller over BT or USB, then output to multiple consoles over wired connection. My firmware in its current state does not do this but it would be possible to extend it to do this. I have looked at four gamecube outputs but primarily for four different players using USB hub input.

Would be amazing to be able to use the S2 GameCube controller or PS5 controller to control multiple gamecubes! A lot of us shiny hunters are tired of buying wavebirds and receivers 🤣

I almost wanna get the new GameCube control just so I can conveniently play smash Bros ultimate without having to pull out the adapter and deal with cables. But the lack of a minus button really bothers me

It would be cool if there was a concept of a high-powered wireless transmitter Link Cable from the GBA to the GameCube.

That’s a cool-ass CRT, my god. I can’t deny that’s my dream to have a Sony one like that.

@RobertDaleSmith I didn’t pay for mine, someone gifted it to me in August in either a failed attempt to get me banned by making twitter take a closer look at my account or to get the pennies for my interactions as I don’t see a penny for them. But go off 🤷‍♂️

Any hope your project will support 8Bitdo 2.4g controllers directly without the 8Bitdo receiver?

Robert Dale Smith's profile picture
Robert Dale Smith9 months ago

It does support all 8bitdo 2.4 usb receivers. Unfortunately it would take a specific 2.4g transceiver chip and reverse engineering their proprietary 2.4g communication protocol. Maybe possible with enough effort but would be easier to just use their receiver. You have a controller with a lost receiver?

If you got a esp32 you can just flash the blueretro firmware. While having the additional possibility to do it wired is pretty cool ngl.

Robert Dale Smith's profile picture

I have my own alternative firmware for RP2040 that supports both Bluetooth and USB. @joypad_ai

Is there any noticable input lag? Compared to an original

Robert Dale Smith's profile picture
Robert Dale Smith9 months ago

went to great lengths to keep latency at bare min. adapter adds maybe 2-10ms at the most. nothing noticeable

I was just wondering if there's a way to make it work on other consoles, the controller is great but the fact that you can't even use it on switch 😭

Robert Dale Smith's profile picture
Robert Dale Smith9 months ago

It doesn’t work on Switch 1?

adr_gcm's profile picture

Nop, or not yet, I don't think Nintendo would make it compatible with a update, it will be modder's work I guess
