Ok, Tesla AI , 14.3.8 has some issues. This is the third time FSD keeps going straight on a turn only lane. It’s completely ignoring the road markings in regards to its navigation path, in regards to what is proper behavior in terms of respect to road priority and... the other drivers, and in terms of legality. On top of that, it refuses to merge on the proper lane after this highway exit, not once but twice, as I ask it manually to do as it has always done automatically on previous versions. Merging already had issues, but this is IMO a serious regression and shows a lack of AI reasoning.show more

@Tesla_AI This has happened to me as well. Very rarely. The best I've been able to figure is that it obeys the when the lane priority directions are clearly posted above, but not always when painted on the ground. I did see it get out of the wrong lane once in an earlier version.

@Tesla_AI All versions had problems merging, I had some weird glitches before, but I never had incidences of it totally ignoring traffic laws before 14.3.8.

@Tesla_AI These are for people coming from the side road. Been at that intersection/exit about 50 times, it’s the first time it does this.

@Tesla_AI Curious what mode you had enabled. Do you have the rear camera footage as well? I wonder if the model rewards continuing forward over potentially stopping the flow of traffic behind the vehicle. I’ve experienced similar situations, but overall the merging has been solid for me.

@Tesla_AI Same. Only time I use hurry is on highways and it’s primarily to keep up with speed of traffic.

@Tesla_AI I think you should over and over again break your streak and send a critical report. One day it will be successful.

@Tesla_AI I always break my streak, every time I park… I generally try to get it to do the proper thing by telling it in which lane to go. This time it was especially stubborn. This is the 50th time at this intersection and the first time it does this.

@Tesla_AI I've done that. Being caught in the wrong lane is not a safety issue. Happens when lane markings are unfamiliar.

@Tesla_AI I’m more upset about how it ignores my indications to merge when I flash left. It should have imitated the behavior of all the cars ahead.

@Tesla_AI I think some of what’s driving these issues is the map data errors and the efforts in progress to overcome them. My area is riddled with them and it prohibits autonomy here. A human must be present to ensure proper behavior.

@Tesla_AI It learns from what human drivers do. This maneuver was clearly very time efficient. Maybe Tesla should allow some audible input for your cars training: “No! No! Bad model Y . . . Bad!!!”
