OK, this is insanely cool ... - screen mirroring into the protoverse - Shared multi-player view for anyone in this scene - Not fast enough for video (yet) but good enough for code - can type on laptop and view in VR :)

We built a similar vision in 2014 with @BigscreenVR! One of the early a16z VR investments. The original prototype in 2014 was called HQVR. Too early. Successfully pivoted to make VR hardware as HMDs limited such use cases (resolution, comfort). Decade-long deep work, now finally hitting PMF!

@BigscreenVR I remember! I was a huge fan. Amazing.

Here's a gstreamer plugin for unity 3d I wrote that streams video fast enough to fly drones with it on Meta quest 3. It's mit license, ur welcome.

Oh amazing. I’ll have a look. Right now it’s not fast enough for video. Would love to watch a movie in my 3D world.

shire looks great!

Interesting tech blend. Curious how the coding experience feels in VR compared to traditional setups

Eh it's more of a novelty. But it's fun. It is sort of cool to vibe code an environment while being in it.

Let’s goo 👏👏

So sick, we live in the future

Everyone is a quant now and gets a Bloomberg Terminal with 8 screens

Got stuck at the first neologism. Where's the glossary?

protoverse - the name of the project which is a 3D world that supports VR screen mirroring- streaming my desktop into said 3D world shared multiplayer - anyone who joins this 3D world can also see the screen. :)

Thanks. I presumed "protoverse" was a term you coined rather than the name of a thing. Maybe capitalization would make that clearer?

What VR device and system configuration would you recommend for artists/creators wanting to explore this?

Quest 3. If you have one, happy to help you get started.

Looks like you're experiencing some crazy tech with that setup.

Did you try voice input? It must feel like magic then
