Hamas is a terrorist organization. This is not something that I am saying. This is something that we all know. It is reality. A reality studied and legally confirmed by the European Union who clearly recognizes Hamas as it is. A dangerous Islamic terrorist organization. Dangerous to whom? To all of us. A threat to our security. This is why an organization is put on the list of terrorist organizations in the first place. So to my colleagues in the EU, my question is simple. How are we, the representatives of this parliament supposed to feel safe when a member of this house, elected to represent our countries, citizens and freedom goes to a demonstration in a foreign country, namely Jordan, and stands enthusiastically among protests who have slogans supporting Hamas, the terrorist organization that is recognize by us as such and that demonstrated its level of cruelty and bloodthirst? According to the French newspaper Le Point this member was left-wing MEP Rima Hassan. She participated to a pro-Hamas demonstration in Jordan where participants honored Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh with slogans glorifying jihad and threatening to remove Jews from Jerusalem. Rima Hassan enthusiastically attended the demonstration and published the videos on her social media. Again, Hamas is recognized by the EU as an Islamic terrorist organization and has killed, kidnapped and raped innocent people on October 7 and long before as we all know. It is a terrorist organization that means hell for Palestinians and Israelis and represents a serious danger to Europe, hence its presence on the EU list of terrorist organizations. So on the one hand, we have the hostages and the innocent victims. On the other hand, we have the Hamas terrorists and their friends from Iran and Hezbollah. On whose side do we want to stand as European Parliament? I may hope that all of us will stand on the side of the hostages, of the innocent, of our own citizens and societies. On the side of freedom and security. My point in plenary this week about European values and choices. Assita Kanko

šŸ—£ļøā™Ÿļø World chess legend and Russian opposition figure in exile in the United States, Garry Kasparov, on the Russia–Ukraine war: šŸ‡·šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ŗšŸ‡¦ ā€œRussia’s future is being decided not in Russia, but in Ukraine. Since the very beginning of the full-scale invasion, our slogan has been: ā€˜Victory to Ukraine and freedom to Russia’ — in that exact order. We are not dreamers of some abstract ā€˜beautiful Russia of the future.’ We are doing what we can. We do not overestimate our strength, but we know exactly what we can do and where our place is. Today, our place in this war is alongside Ukraine, which is defending not only its own independence, sovereignty, and national integrity, but all of Europe and the entire free world. It is the shield of the free world against the advance of tyranny.ā€ šŸ“Œ ā€œWe stand with Ukraine, which must win and protect the free world from this aggression.ā€ šŸ“Œ ā€œThis is not a war where any form of compromise is possible. In fact, it is a war in which there can be no draw — precisely because there is no other task today.ā€ šŸ“Œ ā€œThere is only one objective in this war. As Churchill said in 1940: ā€˜What is our aim? Victory at all costs.’ Despite the terror and horrors that lie ahead — only victory.ā€ šŸ“Œ ā€œAnd I have no doubt that this victory will be achieved. Then, I am certain, the prediction of one of the 20th century’s most prominent geopolitical thinkers, Zbigniew Brzezinski, will come true: without Ukraine, the Russian empire cannot exist. And there can be no democracy in Russia as long as an empire exists.ā€ See the latest updates with us: NSTRIKE

Jeffrey Sachs: The old world leader, the United States, has been matched and, in many ways, overtaken by China. And I think we all feel that it’s not a temporary phenomenon, but really the end of US-led geopolitics, and even more fundamentally, the end of Western-led geopolitics. Our governments, in most places—with the exception of China, from my perspective—are not able to govern right now. The United States is probably the most incapacitated government of any major government. We’ve got a nut as president, just to be blunt about it. I’d like to be blunt because there are very few opportunities for adult conversation, which we need. We just need a real understanding. So, we have a president who is out of control, really, but we don’t really understand how the US government works right now. And everyone I know who interacts with Trump says that he has an attention span of a few seconds, basically, and is a complete ignoramus. And this is in the middle of a war that we’re in. Nobody knows how to deal with the United States because no one knows what’s really going on, what the relations are. It’s all the more unnerving because we have to fake everything as if we’re in a normal situation. So no matter how weird it gets, everyone says, ā€œOh yes, this is very interesting. We’re going to continue our diplomacy,ā€ even though it’s a madhouse. The breakdown of US governance, the loss of US power, and the mindset reaction in the US are the main drivers of chaos in the world right now. I don’t even know whether they can de-escalate anymore because they’re so crazy. This is just the madman and the tantrum that’s coming with it. The answer would be for the rest of the world to act like grown-ups. Kaja Kallas tweeted, ā€œIran is an evil country that must be brought to bear,ā€ the day that they were attacked by the US and Israel. Again, nobody dared speak the truth. Nobody speaks the truth right now. So, this is a very deep governance crisis on top of everything else. My prescription is that we behave like grown-ups again. Netanyahu is a real psychopath, without question. And they’re completely out of control. The only thing—if you want to say anything—is what Mr. Sachs said: governments should talk truthfully about the situation so that we have a chance to actually address what is the most serious crisis of global governance since World War II.

President Zelenskyy addressed OrbĆ”n regarding the Druzhba pipeline, and he didn’t hold back on the absurdity of it all. Basically, Ukraine is being put in this insane position where they are expected to repair a Russian pipeline—the same Russia that's currently trying to wipe them off the map—just so Viktor OrbĆ”n can keep his cheap energy fix and stay in power. It’s peak irony: Ukraine has to facilitate putin’s profits to satisfy a guy who’s spent the last four years trying to tank EU support for Kyiv. Zelenskyy is essentially saying, 'Look, we can fix it in a month, but why should we?' Especially when the EU is dangling €90 billion in aid over their heads like a ransom note. It’s a masterclass in the kind of dirty backroom politics Ukraine is forced to deal with while fighting a literal invasion. President Zelenskyy on the Druzhba Pipeline: "Regarding the pipeline, let me be very honest with you. To be honest, I would not restore it. It is Russian oil. That is my personal position. But I am the President of a country that is at war, and we have many factors and many partners. Technically, we can restore it. Our specialists say that within a month, or a month and a half, we can technically bring it back to work. Not all the damage can be repaired immediately, but it can work. But there is a political side to this issue. There are things and principles that are simply priceless. They are killing us, and we have to give oil to OrbĆ”n because he cannot win elections without it? This is a very difficult question for our society. We are discussing this with our European partners. We are told that if we do not restore it, up to 90 billion euros of EU funding for Ukraine could be blocked. This is a very high price. We are waiting for an official request from the European Union. I discussed this with the President of the European Council, António Costa. We must understand what the official position of the EU is. Also, we are looking at other options. Perhaps this pipeline can be used for other purposes, not for Russian oil. We are ready for dialogue, but we will always defend the interests of Ukraine and our people."

China-Israel’s relations are solid and sound, based on common understandings and commitments. We might have disagreements on various policies, but nonetheless we regard each other in a respectable and dignified manner. The war that broke out on the 7th of October, is a war against one sole cause – to dismantle completely the military and administrative capabilities of the genocidal jihadist terror organization which is called HAMAS. A reminder to you all of Hamas’s charter published in 1988, which clearly cites its goals as a terror organization: ā€œIsrael will exist until Islam will obliterate itā€, ā€œthere is no solution to the Palestinian problem except by JIHADā€, ā€œthe day of judgement will not come about until Muslims fight Jews and kill them allā€. So very clear that HAMAS is not a benevolent organization with pure administrative motives as the sole ruler in the Gaza strip but a brutal jihadist organization that aspires to kill and murder in order to establish an Islamic caliphate in the whole Middle East and beyond. Hamas has not provided any administrative services to the poor Gazans, but used all donations and financial resources to build a huge military machine to kill Israelis and Palestinians as well. This is HAMAS that China shuns away from recognizing as a terrorist organization. The Global Security Initiative, officially published by the PRC’s government in February 2023, reads: ā€œWe encourage all countries to work together to address regional disputes and global challenges such as TERRORISMā€ (end of quote). Isn’t it clear enough that all countries, China included, should fight against terrorism and annihilate it from its roots? The world supported the global initiative to fight against yet one other Jihadist organization, ISIS, it should support all efforts to fight against the Jihadism of HAMAS. We expect China to officially voice out in its official briefings, that Hamas is a terrorist organization that committed a brutal massacre of innocent civilians on October 7th and should therefore be harshly condemned. China, as an important player in the global scene and a permanent member of the security council, should do all it can to secure the safe and unconditional return of the 230 hostages, and to prevent the escalation of tension in the region. We trust that China supports Israel’s legitimate right, to provide full security to its citizens and to defend its territorial integrity when unilaterally attacked. Other Governments will react in self defense in similar situations.
