@DrGottfried It's true tha suppressing ovulation with oral contraceptives reduces the risk of ovarian cancer. At the same time, regular ovulation is how women make #progesterone and reduce the risk of heart disease, osteoporosis, and probably breast cancer.

@DrGottfried A woman has a 1 in 78 chance of getting ovarian cancer. So take birth control that increases risk of breast cancer (1 in 8 chances) to lessen the odds of the 1 in 78?

@DrGottfried This is a backward way of exploring the mechanisms. Ovulation and pregnancy are both protective due to increased P4 production. When P4 is trumped by E2 that's when issues occur - miscarriage, cysts, hyperplasia etc.
