I've come to appreciate boring hotfires. Our BE-7 team recently completed a 2,500 second hotfire test at 10klbf on a development engine, setting the record for the longest-duration turbo pump-fed liquid rocket engine hotfire. This built on some of the most rigorous testing in the history of propulsion, with the previous record set by the RS-25 engine that powered the Space Shuttle. They recorded two 2,017 second tests in 1988. It's not lost on us that we're following a path those engineers blazed, and we're grateful for it. E-2’s first 90-second test fire was a success! It performed at 55% power with a low conservative 1.6 mixture ratio as planned. The hardware appears in perfect condition ready for more tests. This is an exceptional result for a first test article (E-2 SN1). The test was also a key milestone for our US Space Force TACFI contract. We’ve wrapped up this test campaign and will be back in January with an updated injector featuring lower LOX passage pressure drop to allow us to increase the LOX mass flow and in turn reach full thrust and high performance O/F mixture ratio of 2.62. We thank our team and partners for making this possible - especially Stennis Space Center and their team. We would also like to thank the @SpaceForceDoD for their TACFI contract support.

We’re beginning our #CountdownToCriticality. As we approach initial criticality, our engineers and operators will take you inside our Groves Isotope Test Reactor as they conduct the startup tests. Our team has loaded the initial core, tested the control rods and protection systems, and brought purified water into the core under tight chemistry control. These steps are a deliberate “preflight check” that builds confidence that the reactor and its systems are behaving as expected. Space Perspective has successfully completed a historic flight demonstration of Spaceship Neptune-Excelsior, the fully-operational test vehicle that will take Explorers to space. Around sunrise on Sunday, it launched from the deck of Marine Spaceport (MS) Voyager, propelled by our SpaceBalloon™ to ~100,000 feet (~30 km). Over the course of several hours, our engineering teams monitored and controlled the capsule, eventually bringing it down through a controlled descent and splashdown. This flight tested a multitude of systems, including launch & ascent through our patented launch system aboard MS Voyager, cabin pressure and stability at peak altitude aboard the capsule, our Environmental Control and Life Support systems, and all aspects of our SpaceBalloon™, including the material performance and our patent pending venting mechanisms. While these are just a few of the many complex systems, the entire flight profile was successfully executed and all systems operated nominally. First fire! 🔥 We have successfully kicked off the hot fire campaign for our first stage at SaxaVord Spaceport UK. We hot-fired a total of four Helix engines, igniting one by one at four second intervals. All engines ran simultaneously for 8 seconds with a total hot-fire duration of 20 seconds. The test ran flawlessly through start-up, steady-state and shutdown. With this hot fire, we were able to demonstrate that we can nominally operate and control our first stage and all its systems, as well as a cluster of Helix engines. RFA and our incredible team are marching steadfastly on towards our first test flight, not only in Scotland but also in Augsburg, Portugal and Sweden.
