CM Shivakumar defends Bidadi Township amidst opposition protests, says compensation will be more than ₹3 crore per acre. Bengaluru The proposed #BidadiTownship project has become the latest flashpoint in #Karnataka politics, with the #BJP and #JDS joining hands to stage protests against the government’s plan. Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, however, has mounted a strong defense of the initiative, insisting that his administration’s compensation package for landowners is far more generous than what was offered earlier.#DKShivakumar contrasted his government’s approach with that of the previous administration. “The previous government had fixed a price of only ₹25 lakh per acre. However, our government has decided to give more than ₹3 crore per acre,” he declared, stressing that farmers stand to benefit significantly from the revised model. The opposition has accused the government of pushing through the township project at the expense of local communities, calling the land acquisition process unfair. BJP and JD(S) leaders argue that despite the higher compensation, the project threatens livelihoods and represents a large-scale land grab. The government counters that the township will bring infrastructure growth, employment opportunities, and long-term economic benefits to the region. Our voices deserve to be heard - Not silenced. We, *ALL KARNATAKA STATE STUDENTS ASSOCIATION*, AKSSA OFFICIAL began a peaceful march from Dharwad to Bengaluru to protest the repeated translation errors in the KPSC exams — errors that are costing deserving candidates their future. Our protest was not just for ourselves, but for justice, transparency, corruption and accountability in our examination system. But today, as we entered Bengaluru, the *police arrested our peaceful protesters*, attempting to suppress our voices and curb our constitutional right to protest. This is not just an attack on students — it’s an attack on democracy itself. What message are they trying to send? That students don’t have the right to demand fairness? That we must stay silent in the face of injustice? Honourable Home minister Dr. G Parameshwara of Karnataka and Police Commissioner Dayanand sir should immediately take action against the police inspector N.M. Poonacha for allegedly manhandling innocent students and have Filed a FIR against 9 students who were walking peacefully. And provide justice to students and remove FIR filed on students. We will not be silenced. We will continue to raise our voice until justice is served.
