A lot of space for catastrophe. Why not reduce dependence on flame jets and use a softer landing like water bodies, or design a large dark landing pad and use propellers. The time you will waste will only take you back to those methods. This is like delibrately experimenting with unsafe houses by burning them as if you plan to actually put people there one day. No serious engineer will use this to transport people or even goods.
