Plastic extraction #110 from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch - removing another 12,678 kg (27,954 lbs) of plastic from the ocean for good. Our total plastic catch from the GPGP is now over 500,000 kg (1.1 million lbs).

Amazing work!! How does the net just catch plastic and not fish?

As our ocean system is designed to capture plastic, not fish, we have specifically implemented a number of features to keep the by-catch very low. These features are divided into the following categories: measures built into the design of the system itself, measures based on how the system is operated by the crew, and measures based around monitoring.
