The tough winter conditions in the Pacific increase sailing times and reduce the amount of plastic we can catch. So, we break for the winter and use this time for scheduled evaluation, necessary maintenance, and system upgrades.

Thanks for doing this incredible job. How big is the patch compared to when you started, or is the cleanup just stopping it getting any bigger?

At the moment, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch is growing faster than we can clean. However, having transitioned to the larger System 03, alongside intercepting in rivers before plastic can reach the ocean, we believe we can clean the GPGP by 2040.
