The Ocean Cleanup has completed its 100th extraction of plastic pollution from the Pacific Ocean. The organization has removed nearly 850,000 lbs of plastic from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch since 2019. Video from one mission shows the staggering scale of plastic pollution.

I have a buddy in the Navy and he says all their trash gets thrown off the ship… including broken refrigerators, washers and dryers, bags of trash etc.. you can clean up all you want but stopping the leak is step one.

Now we need to educate people to not litter in the first place. That's the real challenge.

Plastics need to be increasingly phased out and banned. We still have a chance to clean the oceans, but the tide of pollution has to be stemmed
