These features are divided into the following categories: measures built into the design of the system itself, measures based on how the system is operated by the crew, and measures based around monitoring. Our goal is to identify the sources and geographic origins of this debris, and compare data on plastic floating in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch with plastic found on Hawaii’s shorelines.
