🚨 Pomp has a message for the tariff critics. While many are raising concerns about Trump’s geopolitical strategy and whether it will lead to a recession or financial crisis, Pomp shares a positive take on the tariffs and the efforts to rebuild the American workforce. But what about the... inherent dilemma between serving as global reserve currency (needing to run structural trade deficits) and trying to maintain a strong industrial base? As I laid out in my episode on The Bitcoin Layer, the U.S.–China economic imbalance—overconsumption vs overproduction—isn’t just a story about Americans being “addicted to debt and consumption.” Miran lays out that it is driven by the structure of the dollar system. Surplus nations like China suppress domestic consumption, overproduce, and accumulate dollar reserves—then recycle them into U.S. Treasuries. This dynamic props up the dollar, hollows out American industry, and sustains a trade imbalance that cannot self-correct. But the Emergency Act says nothing about tariffs. It just says that in the case of an emergency, special measures are permitted. So what the Supreme Court will do, it could even order the repayment of all those tariffs, which are about $90 billion, that had been raised mostly from Americans. It would be a major crisis. There is so much to unpack here… times are changing FAST… Trump says we will now have Dollar-backed stablecoins, which are cryptocurrencies pegged to the value of the U.S. dollar, typically at a 1:1 ratio, to maintain price stability. They are backed by reserves of U.S. dollars or dollar-equivalent assets (like Treasury bonds) held by the issuer. Stablecoins will replace SWIFT, and now be used by Consumers, vendors, businesses, and banks all over the world for lightening fast, ultra-low transactions. The Genius act provides banks, businesses, and financial institutions a framework to issue crypto assets back 1:1 with real US Dollars, treasury bills, and other cash equivalents. He says BRICS wanted to take over the dollar, but is now dead! Dollar decentralization refers to the process of reducing reliance on the U.S. dollar as the dominant global currency for trade, reserves, and financial transactions. It involves diversifying away from the dollar toward other currencies, cryptocurrencies, or alternative financial systems to mitigate risks associated with U.S. monetary policy, sanctions, or economic instability. This will establish the US dollar as the world’s reserve currency for generations to come.
