Finally got a Vision Pro, and now I can test all the prototypes that I made for VisionOS last year 🥳 My overall impression of Vision Pro: a piece of art. The user experience is very smooth and solid. Developing for VisionOS is a pure joy. No glitches and bugs so far. The real-time interactive updates in the preview are *chef kiss*. People who have been in XR for a while are not really spoiled by things that just work. In this regard, the Vision Pro experience feels magical. We are always happy when a system's behaviour matches our expectations (a little dopamine reward to celebrate the accuracy of our predictions). The greatest features for Spatial Designers: UI panel material highlights, UI panel shadow, and UI panel translucency. It finally makes spatial transformations meaningful (for free!). You see how your UI engages with the environment using visual affordances that people get used to. And yeah, as you can see, I recorded this video at night, and it worked great. So it's excellent news for all-night hackers 😁 #handtracking #directmanipulation #spatialcomputing #spatialdesign #visionpro #visionos #swiftui #mixedreality

Side by side comparison : ANA B787 electric dimmable window vs Air France A350. First one (ANA) has that solid physical button you just press. Second has the touch slider(Air France) To me the Air France touch slider straight-up looks like a nightmare... feels like it could easily malfunction with one wrong tap or some condensation. Which one would you rather have Button or slider?

I am splitting time between Godot & Unity but took a detour to see what the threejs hype was about. Was able to put together a 2.5D system pretty quickly with some of our 2D pipeline for a demo. Godot and threejs side-by-side same assets. Cave + Bridge scene is threejs. Idea on this one was a group of knights having to take back a world from evil with only their shields. All the swords flew up into the sky, suspended by something. Not in my usual style but really dig the lighting in threejs, scenes came together really quickly. The shield throw ended up going into the Moki demo as a leaf throw. Which one looks better?

It was Quran 3:13: “Already there has been for you a sign in the two armies which met [in combat]- one fighting in the cause of Allāh and another of disbelievers [Kafirs]. They saw them [to be] twice their [own] number by [their] eyesight. But Allāh supports with His victory whom He wills. Indeed in that is a lesson for those of vision.” A clear message to Saudis that they are on the wrong side!

They did not have to. It meant change and cost. Paddy thought about it and said yes. Now there are halal and kosher fryers side by side and one long queue for fish and chips. Orthodox Jews, Muslim families, neighbours from every background, ordering the same national dish. Everyone remained unmistakably themselves, they simply widened the table and in that small act, you glimpse the country we can still choose to be.
