Roscosmos shows full-duration static fire of the RD-0124MS engine for the second stage of Soyuz-5/Sunkar rocket. The first flight-worthy RD-0124MS engine was delivered and installed on the second stage last year. With that, the engine is now ready for flight tests.

Two 290-second tests exposed the engine to its full range of thrust and mixture ratios to verify engine performance. The engine is now off to Florida for integration with MK1.

The AVac (Archimedes Vacuum) engine produces 1.2x lbf of its Stage 1 variant and stands ~2.5m taller thanks to its extended nozzle optimized for the vacuum conditions of space. Recent AVac testing included a stub skirt for the nozzle. Since full length vacuum nozzles at ground level risk flow separation and instability, stub skirts are used to anchor our engineers' analysis for how the engine will perform with the full nozzle in vacuum conditions - all critical preparation for Neutron's first flight.

From avionic builds to expanding of our machine shop capabilities and more. 🔥In prop, teams completed assembly of the second Aeon R engine for first flight and reduced average cycle times across key engine components by 50%. 💻The avionics team is building the flight hub box, which will serve as Terran R’s central node for routing data and distributing power to critical systems. 🚀Welding of the first stage tank is progressing with 3 circumferential friction stir welds now complete.
