I listened to their concerns, met the doctors and teams on the ground, and saw first-hand how much reassurance timely, respectful care can bring. What stood out was the dignity with which people were able to seek help, without fear of cost, delay, or uncertainty. The trust and affection shown by the people throughout these days have been deeply humbling. But this moment is not a full stop. Through our model camps across two blocks, 22 citizens who had been living in darkness due to cataracts were referred for surgery at Kalyani Eye Hospital in Nimtouri and have now regained their sight. Watching them return home with renewed confidence and independence is a reminder that public service, at its best, is measured in restored lives. Health must never be a privilege, and dignity must never be conditional. Sebaashray stands for both. This is what a healthy society looks like, where care reaches people before suffering becomes fate. Nothing weighs heavier on my conscience than watching people endure suffering in silence, and nothing restores my faith more than seeing that suffering recede when care finally reaches them. It is this promise of relief and dignity that Sebaashray 2 seeks to sustain. On Day 27 of Sebaashray 2 in Bishnupur, I personally inspected every aspect of the health camp, ensuring that services were accessible, facilities responsive, and dignity upheld at every step. From the elderly seeking reassurance, to young adults navigating uncertainty, to children arriving with quiet curiosity, each interaction was a reminder that healthcare is not merely a service, but a lifeline. Listening to them reaffirmed my belief that policy must always be shaped by lived realities.

A small act of kindness can travel a long way in transforming lives. When the people of Nandigram reached out to me to organise Sebaashray health camps, I resolved on the very first day to act. On 15th January, I personally visited Nandigram and launched this initiative, and what followed has been a deeply life-affirming journey. True public service is that which transcends barriers, sets aside political calculations, and devotes itself wholly to those in need. That is the true strength of Sebaashray. It has restored hope and dignity to people who had long felt neglected and unheard. Here, their voices were acknowledged, their concerns addressed, and their needs met with compassion and care. The love and blessings showered by the people of Nandigram will remain inscribed in my heart in golden letters. I salute every doctor, nurse, healthcare worker, and volunteer who selflessly shouldered this responsibility and took quality healthcare to people’s doorsteps. As long as the people of Nandigram remain in need, Sebaashray will return to serve them. That is my promise.
