Shopify: The RenAIssance Edition Sidekick updates, Agentic Storefronts for merchants, new tools for devs building commerce agents, AI simulations, and more 🧵

Sidekick has 20+ new capabilities in this Edition. My favorite: it can create custom apps. Just prompt Sidekick, and it writes the app code using Polaris UI with Admin API GraphQL queries and mutations.

Sidekick will be able to interact with all apps. This is big for devs. Build Sidekick app extensions so Sidekick can access your app’s data and take action. Dev docs are live so you can get ready.

Sidekick is becoming proactive, acting as a researcher for your business to share timely insights and personalized recommendations. We call this Sidekick Pulse. This is just the start. More is on the way.

We’re making every Shopify store agent-ready by default with Agentic Storefronts. This is the easiest solution for merchants who want AI agents to find their store, understand their products, and complete transactions.

There’s now native A/B testing on Shopify, starting with themes. This is a major change to our infrastructure. You can split test and merge theme changes directly from the admin. You can also use Rollouts for scheduling winning changes to go live at a specific time.

We’re training agents to mimic real shoppers. Agents simulate shopping behavior in your store, so you can compare themes and get feedback before launch. SimGym is now in research preview.

Shopify Product Network lets you source and instantly sell products from other Shopify brands in your store, so you can still make the sale even when there's a product gap.

The Shopify Catalog API is rolling out this week to all partners in the new Agents Dev Dashboard. You can also bring a merchant’s checkout to agentic flows in browsers, in addition to mobile, with Checkout Kit.
