Any language taught in school should have a practical side to it. We live in the Asia-Pacific region and the language in these regions are far more useful to learn or another more universal language, like French.

There is zero benefit to learning a language hardly anyone speaks. Just more woke nonsense 🙄

Don't worry about learning to read, write and math. Learn a language that will have zero benefit for your career in the real world. Classic Q&A rubbish.

OMFG! The ABC is taking us back to cave dwellers. Is this real, or some cruel joke? The World language is English, try learning that for a start.

Might as well teach them how to do cave paintings as well. About as useful to the 21st Century.

My children are being taught Italian but if we lived in NZ they would be taught both English and Māori.
