Bar hop How It’s Done Start on one side of the stick with two targets at 7-10 yards and 1 yard apart. On the beep, engage the target directly in front of you with two shots, then engage the second target with two shots. Step over the stick and reengage the first target with two shots, and then the second target with two shots again. This drill is 8 shots total, with four on each target. Why It’s Done This drill is a great way to introduce movement into your training. If you're used to static shooting, this drill would be a great one to start with. It may be just one step, but getting your feet to do what they’re supposed to while shooting is harder than it looks. This drill also includes a couple of transitions, which will easily get you some Charlies and Deltas if you’re not careful. Things to Remember The goal is to make it sound like you're shooting one target. What I mean by that is you should try to shorten the time between targets and make the flow as smooth as possible. When you start and when you finish, be sure to check your stance. You don’t want to end up off balance. Bending your knees will help soften your movement. As always, make sure you are looking at a small spot and not just the whole target. It’s one of my favorite drill to do so give it a try! Thanks sis for the drill suggestion! Hannah

Double fungo massive rep drill for youth players. This was for my AA Little League team where they just need to focus on getting the ball back into the middle of the diamond and getting outs at 1B. They are not ready to cut to different bases yet. This takes about 30 minutes or so to get through. Its better when you can make it a competition by having them count how many perfect plays they get. If a perfect play, ball goes in the bucket. The rest go on the ground. Most balls in bucket wins the round. I recommend having some coaches out in the field too to help keep them focus and organized. The difference in the way Drew threw in HS/college and what we saw in the videos from the Steelers rookie camp is extremely subtle (basically a slight adjustment w/ the front leg and zero change to his upper half or arm path/slot) and most wouldn’t be able to pick up on it. I disagree that he was early with his external rotation during college. The video below (from 2024) shows his typical approach over the past 7 years…staying loaded and coiled on the back leg until the front foot makes contact with the ground. The drill is designed to keep him loaded in his back glute, and maintain the discipline to not fire his hips early, until his front foot gets down. His front foot and hip slightly clear (while staying coiled in the core) to allow the hips to come through cleanly. That slight opening of the front hip, along with the slight closure-internal rotation-of the front shoulder is how hip-shoulder separation is created. Getting the hips to come through first (while the shoulders and arms stay back), then the torso, then the shoulders, is how hip-shoulder separation (power) is maximized. Learned that from Chris Hess and it’s been a fantastic tool.
