Simple software is dying. Simplicity only mattered when humans had to use every feature. Now that agents can operate software for you, it’s the most capable tool that wins. Fillout reached 12,000 paying customers by focusing on depth over simplicity. It turns out we may have also built the...

Important question: After someone fills out the form, does it actually follow up, or does the lead get sent to the same void where tax records and missing legions go?

Lol

You don’t want them to go where the missing legions go btw.

Congrats on the launch! My question is can it handle the cursed government form format: 20 pages, tiny boxes, repeated questions, and a signature section from 1998?

Thanks! Yes - I've tested too many government forms to count...

Interesting launch. The category question is: at what point is "form builder" the wrong label? If the product owns intake plus what happens after intake, that starts looking more like an operating layer

Congrats on the launch. Always excited to see a different take on a widely used service. How does this being agent native help users get the success they want?

Dominic Whyte's profile picture

thanks! Having one click rollbacks and easy previews in the same UI makes it safer to undo when something goes wrong but we are working on external MCPs for use in Claude + Chatgpt too, stay tuned

The MCP stuff would be really useful. Always a great to have the tools as close as possible to where the work happens. :)

This looks great - can't wait to try. Curious what you think will happen to SaaS margins / per seat pricing if the "end-user" becomes more of an agent?

Dominic Whyte's profile picture
Dominic Whyte3 months ago

thanks! We removed per-seat pricing fully over a year ago. I think others will follow suit..

can it score and summarize incoming responses too, or is the AI mostly for building the form?

Dominic Whyte's profile picture
Dominic Whyte3 months ago

both - it can build the system that automatically scores and summarizes the responses

To make this work we had to rewrite how Fillout forms get built under the hood. 100% worth it for the new agent!

Interesting point. I guess once AI can handle the heavy lifting, we’ll start craving power over polish. Fillout’s growth shows there’s a market for depth.

I would have loved to see a 12-hour / 24-hour time format toggle added as part of this update. Super small thing, but for the booking time picker specifically, EU users are more used to 11:30 / 18.30 instead of AM/PM. Something like Cal’s simple time-format switch would be perf

When agents become the user, “simple” stops meaning fewer features. It means clean structure, reliable actions, and enough depth for the agent to actually get work done.

I don't think simplicity dies, it just moves layers. Agents can tolerate deeper workflows, but humans still need clear primitives and recoverability when the agent gets 80% there and hands back the last 20%.

Any progress on integrating PayPal payments directly with Fillout, without the need for a connector?

Depth wins, but the UI doesn't have to expose all that complexity. The pattern we're betting on with Dashform is: give agents capable form infrastructure, then let humans ask for outcomes instead of configuring every field.

Today, Box is announcing major new AI agent capabilities to let customers tap into the full value of their unstructured data. First, we’re announcing all new updates to the Box AI Studio to make it even easier to build AI agents that tap into your enterprise content for any job function, business process, or industry specific use case. We are also expanding our set of foundational agents that customers will be able to use to work with their enterprise content, including new features like search and research on unstructured data. Next, we’re announcing Box Extract to enable customers to use AI agents seamlessly for complex data extraction from any type of document or content. This makes it easier than ever to pull out data from contracts, invoices, research data, marketing assets, medical charts, and more. Finally, we’re introducing Box Automate, a new workflow automation solution within Box that lets you deploy AI agents across enterprise content-centric workflows. With Box Automate, you can design your business process in a simple drag and drop builder and then drop in AI agents at any step in the process. This ensures agents execute tasks at the right steps in a workflow every time. Best of all, our AI agents and workflow tools are designed to work across any system our customers work within, whether it’s leveraging pre-built integrations, Box APIs, or the new Box MCP Server. Ultimately, all of these capabilities come together to transform how companies can work with their enterprise content. Software has historically only been good at automating work that deals with structured data, which is why ERP, CRM, and HR systems have been mainstays of enterprise software for so long. The data in these systems fits neatly into a database, and the workflows are very ripe for automation. But it turns out most of the work in the world deals with unstructured data. It’s ideating through research documents, working with a client on contracts, reviewing details for a new product launch, looking at a patient’s healthcare record to make a diagnosis, working through due diligence documents for an M&A deal, and so on. For the first time ever, we can begin to bring all new insights and automation to this work with AI agents. At Box, we’re incredibly excited to be on this journey to help customers transform how they work with their most important data.

There's probably $100+ billion up for grabs for people who build startup for AI agents Over the next 10 years you're going to have a market of billions of customers (agents) with millions of wallets that want to use your services. TLDR; The internet was built for people: 1. Search google 2. Read landing page 3. Book demo 4. Talk to sales 5. Buy Agents don’t do that. Agents will: 1. Ask which product to use 2. Read your docs/pricing/security pages 3. Compare you to competitors 4. Check if you have an MCP/API/tool layer 5. Buy or recommend you without ever “visiting” your site like a person Everyone is going to have personal agents and business agents. This feels inevitable at this point. OpenClaw, Hermes, Claude Code, Codex, Google Spark. The tools are here. Which means there will be more agents on the internet than humans. So, where's the opportunity?? Go look at every SaaS tool you use. Notion. Slack. Jira. Google Analytics. Now ask: what is the version of this built purely for agents? Agent-native payments. Agent-native communication. Agent-native memory. Every category gets rebuilt. I clearly break down this shift and explain you everything on today's ep of The Startup Ideas Podcast (SIP) 🧃. Over the next 10 years you're going to have a market of billions of customers (agents) with millions of wallets that want to use your services. The founders who build for them now are going to look like the people who built websites in 1995. Might feel janky at the moment, but also obvious in hindsight. This is the next shift.
