NEW: Chinese carmaker, Seres, has been granted a patent for a voice-controlled in-vehicle toilet so a passenger doesn’t have to leave their car to go to the bathroom. The patent filing shows the toilet being activated by voice commands and sliding out from the bottom of a seat. The system comes with a fan and exhaust pipe to make sure the odors make it out of the car, according to BBC. “Waste is collected in a tank that has to be emptied manually. Solid waste management is a major issue for the State, as the State generates 13,000 – 15,000 tonnes of waste daily. We have also identified that the PSP waste collection system needs support in finding creative ways to manage dumpsites. It is important to mention that the Babajide Sanwo-Olu -led administration has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on environmental issues with private investors on ways to generate energy from dumpsites. The State is open to investment opportunities and partnerships. It is time for stakeholders to have pure work plans and be very realistic and deliberate about actions to combat the environmental scourge. A New Era of Sustainable Waste Management in Nagpur 🌱 Inspected the Nagpur Municipal Corporation's 'Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Processing Plant' at the Bhandewadi Dumping Yard, which is set to turn the vision of a waste-free city into reality. Operated by the international industrial conglomerate KEVA SusBDe, the facility will process 1200 tons of waste generated daily in Nagpur. To be completed in 3 phases, the project will ensure that all daily waste generated in the city is processed using advanced technologies. Through this project, both wet and dry waste will be collected and processed. The treatment process will generate biogas, high-quality compost fertilizer, and fuel pellets from dry waste. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has allotted 30 acres of land for the initiative and will receive an annual royalty of ₹15,00,000 from gas sales. Directed the administration to extend all necessary support for its successful implementation. The biogas generated through this project will be utilised to supply CNG for 198 city buses. In addition, the project will provide energy pellets required by MAHAGENCO, further contributing to sustainable energy generation and resource utilisation. This landmark project will reinforce Nagpur’s position as a national model for sustainable solid waste management and environmentally responsible urban development. The LAS hatch provides access to the Orion crew module through the abort tower and must be securely sealed before launch. This system is designed to rapidly pull the astronauts away from the rocket in the event of an emergency during ascent; meaning hatch integrity is directly tied to crew safety.
