Sola scriptura means that scripture is the only infallible rule of faith. This does not mean we do not use Early Church writings for epistemology. In fact with their aid the Protestant position is even stronger.

That’s not sola scriptura. Sola Scriptura would mean that the law book is the final non-transgressive authority, and it is the duty of the judges and legal tradition (episcopate) to interpret and apply it objectively and with consensus, and not go beyond it or make up new laws of their own.

Sola Scriptura does not mean every person invents their own meaning. It means the written Word is the final standard by which every teaching is tested, including the claims of any church.

It's weird. Guys if you read this yourself well kill you and burn you at the stake. Only us special chosen people are allowed to read this book. Everyone starts reading the book while people are getting caught and burned at the stake. Ahh, now I see why you didn't want us reading the book for ourselves.

How can it be a kill shot when it is based upon a strawman?

Actually it’s not a kill shot as you would think. #1 the lie that sola scriptura was not heard of in the early church. Thats a lie. Jesus constantly rebuked the Pharisees for holding to Tradition that contradict the written scriptures, for elevating Traditions as if they were God’s word, effectively nullifying the word of God. Jesus said man shall not live by bread alone but by what? The Word of God. The Bereans were considered the most noble of the Jews because they did what? They searched the scriptures to see if what Paul was saying was true. 1 Corinthians 4:6 I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another. Do not go beyond what is written. #2 The word tradition is simply transmission, a handing down. Logically what the apostles handled down would not contradict scripture, yet many of the Roman Catholic Traditions (big T) are later additions around the 4th and 5th century. Once Pope Leo I created the official office of the Pope, an office not found in scripture, and began the Defacto Supreme Pompous gained a lot of power. So other bishops could not push back. Many Traditions are not found to be supported by scriptures. #2 lie that scriptures are to be privately read and have a private interpretation. Using 100 lawyers blah blah blah. Poor example. Yes scripture is to be read, but not subject to my own interpretation. But of the Holy Spirit. There are many times I understood something incorrectly that was later corrected scripture interpreting scripture. If Jesus rebuked the Pharisees of his day…Since the Pharisees “interpreted” the law and had traditions as being these people worship me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. If Jesus corrected the Pharisees saying you value your traditions more than the word of God. And they were the authority to interpret the law and were so far gone…could not the Roman Catholics also be like the Pharisees? Indeed they are. It is pride and tradition that blinds them. But it seems when people truly read and study scripture for themselves they become free of the shackles and free in Christ.

The reformers didn't say the Bible should be privately interpreted. He set up a strawman, then claims it applies to everybody. Pure fallacy. He then states there are 3 examples of "other authorities". Only gives one. Misquotes it. How does ANYBODY believe these snakes?

I don't even think Sola Scriptura is universally accepted by all Protestants. Pretty much any Anglican that calls himself High Church or Anglo-Catholic rejects it, and IIRC Martin Luther didn't espouse it. So is Sola Sriptura a Calvinist thing?

Sola scriptura emerged partly because Reformers such as Martin Luther concluded that certain Catholic teachings and practices could not be justified from Scripture—or even contradicted it.

The simple "believe in the Lord Jesus Christ" is a belief too far for Rome You must add works, Marian idolatry, cardinals, priests, popes, "indulgences", worship of saints via necromancy, more works, ANYTHING but simply belief in Jesus Christ What a demonic religion
