Someone told me using Blender through MCP is like using an iPhone for the first time. And I love city games. So I described Manhattan and Claude Opus built 45,000 real buildings, landmarks, traffic on the street grid in around 2.5 hours. I still can't really use Blender. #b3d

And then over many iterations ended up here.

I at one point told it to go on a photography adventure and give me some cinematic stills of the city. Not bad.

This wasn't a one-shot. I iteratively built it up. I started with a simple grid of cubes.

These aren't 45k "real buildings" but 45k extruded polygons with a few procedural details. It's trivial to implement with OSM data as a source. Already done without AI by open source projects years ago i.e. by and others. AI just uses the github projects' methods it was trained on and the fools think "AI built this"

It modeled bridges for me. And trees.

Lots of trees...

Save your 2.5hrs and just use Google Earth.

Where did it get the assets from? Building models, street maps, etc.?

They are all primitives, even the bridges, I asked it to model key buildings and use data to rough out the rest. Blender made separate scenes and modeled landmarks from scratch. I used some projection mapping techniques to help in certain areas too - it pulled data for heights.

Absolutely insane.

Maya Controls are the best. 3ds and blender have the dumbest controls

Do you have your prompts and states of the project associated with, very curious about the logic to get this to work well. My attempts, doing what others have claimed, have generated poor results.

To clarify It wasn’t a one shot and took iterations. I’ve worked in film/games for 2 decades and used many of the same concepts learned over the years - it was iterative process acting as director, guiding it and correcting when it messed up. Started small and grew it.

You objectively *can* use Blender! Imperative > Declaritive 🫡

mcp makes blender usable until silent geometry errors pile up without scene validation

How many tokens / credit did it use ?

Blender MCP 真的是给不会建模的人开挂,两小时出曼哈顿,这效率我酸了。但真做项目,后续调整还得自己来,MCP 只能当辅助。

How much did it cost in tokens?

What's your trick to get realistic/accurate architecture details for buildings? some kind of google satellite api?

how much manual cleanup did that 45k building scene need before it actually rendered without exploding the viewport.

I’m working on a threejs version of uptown Manhattan, but it’s a pain to get building to match the architectural styles. What info did you pass to the model?

But why would "using blender" be the thing of note rather then the product/output/use and what can be done with it? you use blender to do extraordinary amounts of math for you, do you say you can't do math or where the individual operations not that important?

For the future. Will make your requests like 50x more efficient if it used mcp.

45k buildings in 2.5 hrs and you still cant use blender is the whole point tbh. curious how much back and forth it took to get the street grid right?

GPT-6 made GTA 6 beach house using MCP tools! Running Astra only through Blender MCP didn’t work for me, since it was mainly using primitive shapes to build the assets. Now, with Atlas workflows and Tripo, that changed! Initially, I thought Tripo P2 would be the way to go: low-poly results straight into Blender. I tried it, but I didn’t get the results I wanted. Don’t get me wrong, P2 is great and a big improvement over P1, I just wanted more detail for this project. So I ended up using Tripo 3.1. First, I needed a good starting point. I gave Astra some concept art and YouTube links, and it generated great reference images to work with. With Atlas workflows, I used those references to generate images for all the individual parts. Using Atlas MCP, I exported them and automatically renamed everything based on the prompts. The next step was feeding the images into Atlas Batch Composer so it could run all the 3D generations in one go. I asked Astra to optimize the generated assets to either 5K or 1K triangles, depending on their form and size. After a few tests, Astra made the process faster and faster. I gave it all 70 high-poly assets and let it run. Astra then took care of the whole build. It imported the optimized assets into Blender and used the reference images to start recreating the house. I only had to give it directional feedback twice and manually rescale a few things. There were still a lot of parts, though. Each beam was a separate object, and I knew that wasn’t ideal if I wanted to export the house to UEFN or Unreal Engine. So I asked Astra to export only the unique assets. Then, using UEFN MCP, it rebuilt everything 1:1 while reusing modular parts like beams and windows. I really enjoyed watching it place all the pieces in UEFN, almost like watching a timelapse of the house being built!
