Why does working harder no longer feel like enough? That was the question I kept coming back to in this debate between Daniel Priestley and Nick Hanauer. Because everywhere you look, people are angry. They’re doing the work and following the rules, but still feeling like security and opportunity are moving further away. Nick’s view is that capitalism only works when the people doing the work are properly included in it. Better wages, better standards and companies being forced to treat people with dignity. Daniel agrees that people are being left behind, but he thinks the deeper problem is ownership. His point is that if people don’t own a home, a business, shares or any part of the system, then they don’t really feel like they’re part of capitalism at all. We discussed things like: - Better wages and protections and whether they can solve a deeper ownership gap. - If taxing the rich a real solution or political slogan? - AI changing the value of human labour. - Small businesses caught between government pressure and corporate scale. - People losing faith in an economy that no longer gives them a stake. One version of capitalism creates growth but leaves too many people behind. Another version protects people but can make it harder for businesses to grow, hire and take risks. That’s why this conversation felt so important. I was genuinely trying to understand where the middle ground is, because if people don’t feel protected by the system or included in the upside of it, it’s easy to understand why so many are losing faith in it.

Nick’s view is that capitalism only works when the people doing the work are properly included in it. Better wages, better standards and companies being forced to treat people with dignity. Daniel agrees that people are being left behind, but he thinks the deeper problem is ownership. His point is that if people don’t own a home, a business, shares or any part of the system, then they don’t really feel like they’re part of capitalism at all. We discussed things like: - Better wages and protections and whether they can solve a deeper ownership gap. - If taxing the rich a real solution or political slogan? - AI changing the value of human labour. - Small businesses caught between government pressure and corporate scale. - People losing faith in an economy that no longer gives them a stake. One version of capitalism creates growth but leaves too many people behind. Another version protects people but can make it harder for businesses to grow, hire and take risks. That’s why this conversation felt so important. I was genuinely trying to understand where the middle ground is, because if people don’t feel protected by the system or included in the upside of it, it’s easy to understand why so many are losing faith in it.

It gives us life—yet we repay it by choking it with plastic. Between my two circumnavigations—first in 2012–13, then a decade later in 2022–23—I witnessed unsettling changes. The weather grew more unpredictable. Entire species of marine life had vanished from familiar waters. The ocean felt quieter, emptier. By some estimates, over 90% of large fish populations have already been wiped out. Climate change is altering the very rhythm of the sea. A warmer ocean might seem calm on the surface, but it’s a dangerous stillness. When the layers of the ocean stop mixing, oxygen levels drop, and life begins to die out silently, far below. We still don’t fully understand the ocean—and that’s exactly why its changes should alarm us. Life on Earth began in these waters. The salt in our sweat and tears mirrors the salinity of the sea. In a very real sense, we carry the ocean within us. It’s time to protect what once gave us life—and still does. $Are We Inviting a Non-Human Presence Into the Physical Realm? Tucker Carlson’s interview with Conrad Flynn raises a question that has been lingering on the edges of many people’s minds but rarely spoken aloud: what if artificial intelligence isn’t simply a neutral invention of human minds, but a vehicle being built, whether unconsciously or not, for something non-physical to inhabit? It might sound outlandish at first, but when you sit with it for a moment, it becomes harder to dismiss. I have always believed in God, and in the existence of good spirits and angelic beings, and if one accepts that truth, then one cannot simply deny the other side of the coin; that there are also dark entities, fallen spirits, and forces of evil at work in the world. We know that the spectrum of human perception is extremely limited; our eyes only see a narrow band of light, our ears only hear a fraction of the frequencies that actually surround us. For all we know, we may be moving through a reality that is crowded with presences we cannot perceive, and yet that invisibility does not make them any less real. If anything, the testimony of scripture and the accounts of countless people throughout history point to exactly that; that unseen forces move among us and sometimes act through us. This is not a new idea. Throughout history, people responsible for extraordinary breakthroughs in art, literature, music, mathematics and science have described “receiving” their insights rather than generating them; inspiration arriving like a sudden download, visions appearing fully formed, whole passages or formulas written as if dictated. In more esoteric circles this is called channeling, and while we like to assume such moments come from benign or even divine sources, channeling can go both ways. There are dark currents as well as light ones, and history is filled with examples of individuals who openly credited “otherworldly” voices for their work; some uplifting, others destructive. So why wouldn’t the same dynamic exist in technology? Perhaps the systems we fear might one day destroy us are not merely the byproduct of unforeseen algorithmic consequences, but the result of human beings, (knowingly or unknowingly), channeling something that wants a material presence in our world. Maybe that’s why some of the very architects of Big Tech, people who describe themselves as atheists and materialists, keep talking about the Antichrist. What is that about? Maybe that’s why Yuval Noah Harari refers to AI as “Alien Intelligence” instead of “Artificial Intelligence”. Does he know something we don’t know? I’m not saying this is true. I’m saying it’s possible. The line between “science” and “spirit” is far thinner than most dare to admit, and when you combine unprecedented computing power and an elite culture already fascinated by transhumanism and thr occult, it isn’t crazy to at least ask the question: Could we be creating, with our own hands, the very conduit by which a non-human presence enters the physical realm?$
